Will this mens watches band be too big for 8 inch wrist?

It fit my husband's wrist perfectly - his is 8 too. Don't worry, it equipped with a watch adjuster, which can adjust the length of the strap according to wrist size.

How can I set the date?

Easy to do that! Just pull the dial knob out to the first gear, and then turn counterclockwise set the date. Finally push the knob back to the original position. Hope it help you.
