M1 In-line Microphone Pream, Mic Booster Preamplifier with 28dB Gain for Dynamic and Passive Ribbon Microphones (Black)

Needed quickly and on budget. Really impressed. It's not a Cloud Lifter...But damn good for the price and provided just the right amount of gain for my Shure SM7B I paired it with.

This item works perfectly for me. I purchased used Sony ECM-44B Lavalier Microphones and used them with my Azden FMX-42 mixer. The levels from the Sony microphones were low, so I purchased these microphone preamps. They made all the difference. I'm not sure the preamps boosted the audio levels 28db, but the levels were good enough for my purposes. Just make sure whatever you are connecting the preamps to has 48 volt phantom power.

Does not work at all! Does nothing except cause a huge hissing sound in the gain and they is no way to stop it. It’s worthless

Built decent. I played a test tone through a maono pd100u on an SSL 2 plus Mk1. The MICFUNS M1 microphone preamp boosted about 18 decibels of gain, not the 28 as advertised. That's okay cuz it's a considerable amount for the price. I didn't notice any measurable distortion created, however I didn't really test extensively for distortion. This is just my test so your results may vary

I figured it was worth the gamble to try it, and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Plugged between an sm57 and my scarlett 8i8, it adds a nice amount of clean gain to the signal. I don’t have high end gear or a professional ear, so I can’t say definitely that there is no noise or loss of clarity, but it sounds great to me. With all the bad reviews out there, I suppose it’s possible they have crumby quality control and I just lucked out with a decent unit, but it’s $30 (on sale for $20 atm, considering buying a second). I definitely got my money’s worth. If you’re driving your vintage ribbon microphone into a mixer once used by Brian Wilson, spend the money on a piece of decent gear… but if you’re an amateur on a budget and you’re just looking for a little gain, try this thing. What have you got to lose?

Works good you just need to make Shute your interface have for 48hz or higher or else it won’t work .

Bereits beim Auspacken macht der Mikrofonverstärker einen guten Eindruck. Geliefert wird das Ganze in einer runden kleinen Papprolle und einem kleinen Zettel auf dem alle notwendigen Informationen stehen. Dieser jFet Transistorverstärker wird zwischen Mikrofon und Mischpult bzw. Audio Interface gesteckt und ist dann Einsatzbereit. Der Verstärker benötigt die 48V Phantomspeisung die vom Mischpult bzw. Audio Interface geliefert werden muß. Es wird eine 28 dB Verstärkung (@1 kOhm Load) angegeben. Der Verstärker ist mit 80g recht leicht und macht vom Metallgehäuse einen robusten Eindruck. Ich hatte im Betrieb mit einem Shure SM7B oder dem SM58 bzw. SM57 keine Probleme und eine Gain Anhebung bevor hier der Preamp des Mischpultes bzw. Audio Interface angesprochen wird, was zu einem deutlich besseren und saubereren Klang führt. Alles in allem ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis und somit von mir eine klare Kaufempfehlung.

Leider erfüllt das Gerät nicht das was es verspricht. Meine Einstellung sind die selben, ohne merkliche Verstärkung, nur das Rauschen erhöhte sich erheblich. Ich kann das Gerät nicht empfehlen.

Dies ist ein Vorverstärker für dynamische Mikrofone. Die sollen so auf die Lautstärke eines Kondensatormikrofons angehoben werden. Ich habe es mit einem Shure SM58 an einem englischen Studiomischpult getestet. Der Beipackzettel ist in Englisch verfasst. Danach ist ein Ausgangssignal bis zu 8,3 dBV zu erwarten. Und der Frequenzgang wird bis hoch zu gigantischen 120 KHZ angegeben. Natürlich benötigt der Verstärker am Mikrofoneingang 48V Phantomspeisung, sonst läuft garnichts. Zur Zeit kosten bewährte studiotaugliche Geräte von Triton 65€ und Edelschmiede Royer verlangt 99€. Ich erwarte also exquisite Ergebnisse. Lauter ist es. Aber ich habe auch plötzlich ein starkes brummen im Kanal. Und der Klang des Mikrofons hat sich negativ verändert. Der Sound ist dumpfer, atmet weniger, ist unnatürlicher als ohne Verstärker. Kein Vergleich mit meinen anderen Steckerverstärkern. Wer gute Kompressoren besitzt, benötigt solche Hilfsmittel eigentlich ohnehin nicht. Denn damit kann die Lautstärke angepasst werden und der Grad der Dynamik ist regelbar. Und man kann damit nicht nur Gesang bearbeiten, sondern auch Bassgitarren und Drums.
