Sony WH-CH720N Wireless Bluetooth Noise Cancelling Over-Ear Headphones, Ambient Sound Mode, Lightweight Design, up to 35 Hr Battery Life, iOS & Android - Black

I bought these primarily for studying so I can block out other noisy students in the library and wear them for long amounts of time without my ears getting sore. I also chose these because Sony seems to make good headphones, and I really liked the design- they aren’t too huge and bulky. PROs: Comfortable, I wear these for hours at a time in the library. Of course every so often I take them off for 5 minutes when my ears get warm but that’s inevitable. Happy with how comfortable they are because I also wear hijab, which means I already have 2 layers of fabric over my ears which makes most headphones so uncomfortable and painful to wear. The top band is squishy so it doesn’t hurt your head much. The sound is lovely, but I’m no expert or that fussed over sound so I don’t know how it holds up against others. But I noticed a big difference with my other headphones, the music sounds great and you can adjust the settings from the app. The noise cancelling mode is pretty good. Again I have no real point of comparison. It mostly blocks background noise, not people’s voices. Voices become muted, especially if it’s a crowd, but you can still hear people talking around you which is a bit of a bummer. But they are great for blocking other sounds- for example on the motorway, they totally block out the sounds of the road and cars. When I take them off I get shocked by how loud it is. This is great if you get overstimulated. Sometimes I wear them without playing anything just for some quiet. They block out some noise even without turning them on. The app is good, you can adjust the noise cancelling. NC mode sometimes gives me a headache after a while, not sure why, so I often switch to ambient mode. Battery strength is good. You should charge it every night if you’re going to use it a lot though. The only times it’s ran out is when I haven’t charged it in a few days despite heavy use. You could definitely charge it fully once and use it non stop for a car and plane journey- I’ve done that. Very light considering the size. They aren’t heavy enough to hurt your head. Sometimes my scalp hurts after a while but that would happen with any sustained pressure. I just shift them forward or backwards and its fine. They’re pretty secure, enough to run in, but not sure of they’re tight enough to exercise at all angles with, you know moving your head up and down. I think if they were any tighter they’d be uncomfortable anyway so I don’t mind. They’re pretty sturdy, not floppy lile my other smaller headphones from Sony. I got it in white and I don’t regret it. They look very stylish. I hesitated because in the picture it looks paper white, but it’s a bit more muted in person, with hints of grey. CONs: Despite being generally comfortable, there’s a really annoying piece of plastic in the ear that pokes at my ear sometimes. I don’t know if it’s because my ears/head are sort of big but it’s irritating sometimes. I have to shift it around. They don’t fold up. If they did they’d be so much easier to transport. As it is, I wear them around my neck, as the ear pieces thankfully do twist around. Still I think they’d be easier to take care of if they folded. It’s sort of risky just putting them in your bag, unless you can be bothered to carry them in a proper case which admittedly I rarely do. I had to buy a separate case for around £14 so add that to your tally. The buttons feel a bit cheap, they’re quite clicky, not very soft. I don’t really care about that sort of thing but I know some people do. OVERALL: I got these after a long while of comparing different headphones. I settled on these because of the price. I’m a uni student and this is the most I’m willing to spend. It’s actually a little steep, especially since I don’t listen to music that much. They’re mainly for studying and travel. But because of the noise cancelling I end up using them a lot. If they were any more expensive, I’d be too afraid to use them as much as I do. Whilst they’re expensive for my range, they are the cheapest of Sonys over ear headphones that are good. And that also LOOK good. I’ll admit I value the aesthetics- there’s other brands with similar headphones that probably perform as well for less, but that look bulkier and uglier. These look great. So I don’t regret this purchase!! I think it would be a total waste if I bought the more expensive Sony headphones that are more trendy right now, especially since I bought this myself. If you’re a student looking for a solid pair of headphones but can’t afford the popular ones, these are a great shout! I plan on using them at least until I finish university, so 3 year’s minimum. I’m getting my money’s worth. I also heard they use the same tech as the Sony XM4/5 but don’t quote me on that- but I think 90% of people would be very happy with the sound. I bought these when they dropped and there we’re basically 0 reviews- I took a leap and have no regrets!! They’d also make a great gift for any teenager obsessed with their music lol. Update: it’s now January 2024 and I rarely go anywhere without them! Still in great shape and the noise cancelling is a god send. I get asked about them all the time. And I’ve been shoving them my bag unceremoniously for months and they’re still going strong Extra Update: I’ve since got the airpods pro 2 which have amazing sound quality. Now when I use these Sony headphones, the difference in sound quality is unfortunately really obvious. But it’s one of those things where if you don’t know how good it COULD sound, you won’t miss it.

Prose, Very surprised at the quality of these cans, Connectivity is simple using the app, Sound cancellation works as good as my BOSE but with the bonus of sound enhancements again within the App, Battery life is very good with and without the Noise control, Fast charging, Equaliser is also a great touch with pre-sets and full manual control, Nice that they add a wired jack and cable, comfortable for long time use. Cons, Bit cheap plastic feel to them, Poor button feel but the App solves the issue really, All in all I'm very happy with them and they've defiantly surpassed my expectations.

This is a very good pair of headphones at a great great price, quality is very clear, very light, feels comfortable, looks clean, easy to take places. The ONLY reason I’m giving it a 4 star is because I can’t connect it to my PS5 (still a Sony product??) but other than that 5/5

Really happy with these headphones. Tried two different brands of headphones prior to these which had ineffective noise cancellation whereas these Sony headphones are great, there is a real difference when the noise cancellation is on. I bought them to wear in the garden to reduce noise disturbance from neighbours and they work very effectively. They are really lightweight and can be worn for hours with no discomfort. The battery life is long. Quality of sound is also good, not tinny.

This is my first pair of headphones in over 10yrs, I wish I found them sooner! I had been using airpods and changed my phone to samsung this caused my airpods to not function properly and in need of new ones, issue is the shape of airpods os the only shape I like but did NOT want airpods again so headphones it was. I am petit and my partners headphones(different big brand) were huge on me, falling off even pn the smallest setting, the earpieces stuck out and sat way further than my ear and felt heavy. These ones ars the perfect fit! Not too big, not heavy, like they were made for me. On the app for them you can adjust how you like to hear music, it helps you pick as well of youre not well versed with it(Im not), I made the bass a little heavier. Bluetooth connection was easy, found and paired first time round. I have had no connection issues, the connection has been better than my airpords ever were, even when they were new. They really are soundproof, I dont have to turn the volume all the way up and sometimes still cant hear people talking right next to me. It has a button that blocks or allows noise to pass through(pretty cool, odd hearing it the first few times), I find it works but with some songs, I cant hear anyone either way but I do notice the changes in if theres car noise or not if Im walking next to a road. There is a little button on the headphone to change between these options. The volume is so good that when I need to hear my surroundings clearly I can put the down on my neck and still hear my music clearly and the volume STILL isnt on full. I charged the battery when I got them to 100%, used them for 3 day and was on 80%, this was with intermittent listening throughout the day. They look good as well, I got blue as it matches my phone, they have been bumped and no scratches(I expected scratches) They do NOT block noise on calls. Unless there is a setting for this I have not found yet. If I am on a call, the other person can hear me and EVERYTHING ELSE in the background. Be aware of that.

Headphones are great considering the price. Obviously sound quality is subjective, but for me these provide the perfect amount of bass without ruining the quality of vocals. There's a small amount of noise leaking from the headphones but it's hardly noticeable and wouldn't be heard above background noise. Noise cancelling works really well and the headphones themselves are a nice, snug, fit. Well worth the money and I chose these over a more expensive Sony model.

The noise cancellation works particularly well with lower-pitched background noise, such as conversations, traffic and general room noise. It becomes more effective when music is playing at a higher volume, although some higher-pitched sounds can still be heard. They are comfortable enough to wear for four to five hours at a time. My only minor complaint is that they can become a little warm and sweaty around the ears after long periods of use. Battery life has also been reliable. Using them for around four to five hours per day, I usually only needed to charge them every couple of days. The Bluetooth connection has been very stable on both my iPhone and Windows PC, with no regular dropouts or disconnections. The build quality feels sturdy for the price, and they are easy to carry around. However, they do not fold, which makes them slightly less convenient to store in a bag. I did not use the ambient sound mode very often and have not tested the microphone for calls, so I cannot comment on those features. Overall, these are affordable headphones that offer very good sound, reliable noise cancellation and strong battery life. They are especially suitable for studying, commuting or working in shared spaces.

Très bon casque, la livraison comme toujours excellente. On y retrouve le casque, le câble de chargement ainsi que le câble audio pour une utilisation filaire si l’on ne souhaite pas utiliser le Bluetooth. La qualité sonore est excellente, fidèle à ce que propose Sony habituellement. Le casque est vraiment très léger, ce qui m’a même surpris au départ, et il reste très confortable même après plusieurs heures d’utilisation. La réduction de bruit est très efficace : on parvient à peine à entendre les sons environnants, ce qui est vraiment impressionnant pour un casque de ce prix. La qualité de fabrication est sérieuse et les matériaux donnent une bonne impression de solidité. J’apprécie la présence de boutons physiques pour le volume et les réglages, que je préfère largement au tactile. La connexion Bluetooth est stable et la possibilité d’utilisation en filaire est un vrai plus. La charge est rapide et l’autonomie très longue, fidèle aux annonces du constructeur. L’application permet aussi de faire différents réglages utiles pour adapter l’écoute selon ses préférences. Quelques petits points négatifs tout de même : la longueur du câble de chargement est vraiment courte, environ 22 cm seulement. L’absence de housse de transport est dommage, certains concurrents comme font mieux sur ce point. Le casque n’est pas pliable non plus comme chez d’autres , ce qui peut être moins pratique pour le transport. Conclusion : un excellent casque dans cette gamme de prix. Confortable, léger, très bon son et réduction de bruit efficace. Pour ce tarif, je pense qu’il est difficile de trouver mieux actuellement.

I wasn't that impressed with these headphones till I installed the app. Switching on "DSEE" and setting equaliser to "bright" transformed sound quality. 80s synth music sounds amazing on these headphones. Very happy with these.
