What Deet rating are these?

Packaging just says concentrated dry deet. I can honestly say they are brilliant. We have used them all around Caribbean and south America. We had people asking about them recently in mexico where a huge amount of people were getting bitten.

Do you have to wear on ankles too? But difficult with hiking boots on

No. The bands are designed to protect areas of exposed skin. They are ideal for wrists and ankles, but if you have hiking boots on you will probably be fine without them, especially if you can tuck socks into the bottom of trousers to keep all exposed skin covered. If you are not wearing long trousers, make sure to apply repellent down to your ankles before you put the boots on.

Can they be worn when swimming and are they still effective afterwards

Yes. I wear mine all day and all night in the pool or sea and replace it every 4 days
