Restore the natural look of your wood Rainproof in 90 minutes Stops wood from greying and splitting Lasts twice as long as standard oils Restores wood oils lost through weathering How to use Ultimate Protection Decking Oil Before you start The oil works its magic on dry days when the temperature is above 10°C. Make sure your decking is com pletely dry before you apply it too. Application Give the oil a good shake and pour the contents into a suitable metal or plastic container. If you’re using more than one tin, mix them together but don’t dilute! Apply a generous amount of oil to the decking using a brush or roller. Paint with the grain and focus on three to four boards at a time to ensure you don’t get any overlap lines. Wait four hours for the coat to dry. Once the first coat has dried, apply a s eco nd coat and wait four hours for it to dry. And that’s it! Your decking is now oiled and healthy.

Review: Revived our decking - This decking oil is great. Our decking is quite old so after cleaning it with fungicidal cleaner and letting it dry in the hot sun, I used this. It's great stuff and soaked into the wood almost immediately. Initially I put the first coat on a bit too thick which meant that it took a long time to soak in. In fairness the instructions were clear about thin coats - so it was my own fault. It will easily cover a medium sized deck like ours. I did two coats and it looks great. There's a great depth to the colour. I used this oak colour as it was an old deck so it hides the old wear and tear. The water beads off the surface so I know it's definitely doing its job. Two coats was great for our old decking. I'll probably do another very thin coat in the spring to give it a bit of a lift.
Review: Happy with this product. Looks best if the wood is sanded back to expose the wood grain, then 2 coats applied. - This goes on well, spreads well, goes far and leaves a great (waterproof) finish. My old decking was in serious decline. It was green, wet all the time and murderously slippy underfoot. Some of the timbers were heading for replacement. I applied firstly a product to kill all the algae, moulds, fungus and moss. Then I brushed the worst of the debris off, replaced parts that had gone too far and applied wood hardener and filler to areas that were still salvageable. I then power-sanded the whole lot, to get back to really decent wood and open up the grain. I then applied timber preservative that soaks deep into the wood and keeps working over a long time (2 or 3 years) to keep the algae from coming back. When the timbers were again fully dry, I gave it a final light sand all over, then a good stiff brush and applied 2 coats of decking oil in Neutral Oak. The first coat soaks in and straight away you can see the grain of the wood. Once really dry, the second coat is more easily applied and you don't need so much as it doesn't soak in as much as the first coat. The 2 coats leave a really nice finish and the rain just beads and runs off. It's no longer slippy underfoot and looks great. It will need doing with this each year and then a more significant overhaul probably every 2 or 3 years. Much cheaper than replacing it with new decking. Pleased with the result. Also, it's easy to clean the brush in warm soapy water. No need for powerful solvents.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Water based???? No it’s oil surely??**
A: It’s an acrylic polymer suspended under a water thinable linseed oil

**Q: Is there anything that can be painted over this? Used on very old decking (after cleaning etc) but it still looks pretty awful.**
A: I had the same issue. Its basically a protector, like putting vanish on!
I painted mine with decking paint. AMAZING RESULT.
But you def need to paint it as if from a clean slate..

**Q: Is it oil based**
A: It says 'decking oil' on the container, so I'm assuming it is an oil of some description. I've been using it since I built my decking 7 years ago and it still looks good.

**Q: Can i use this product on my wood floor in my lounge.**
A: Good Morning,

Thank you for your enquiry.

As a general rule, we cannot recommend application of an exterior product to an interior surface, as they need different types of protection. Interior surfaces require the finish to be tough against knocks and scratches, whereas exterior surfaces need water repellency as well as flexibility to adjust to constant temperature changes as well as protection against mould and rot. If you woudl like us to offer further advice, feel free to get in touch on 01303 213 838.With any product we always recommend a test area first.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A good product and reasonable priced
*by C***L on 27 January 2025*

Have used this product a couple of times now. It is easy to paint onto the decking and leaves a good finish and a decent colour. You can see it repelling the water following application. The one drawback is that after rain, I have noticed that around the knots in the wood, it leaves some white bubbles which then stain. Will need to reapply every year. Would probably buy again, although might see what other products are recommended.
