Premium DAC capable of top shelf performance when powering from a battery power station.
Great product, it performs way above its price point when using battery power stations using LiPO4 batteries. This DAC is capable of generating the most accurate sound if given a solid digital source, and is a great pairing with Austrian Audio headphones (their best open air and closed back models). This has all of the characteristics of their Canary II DAC which I purchased before this one, but on steroids by comparison. The Canary II sounded so good I was interested in checking out their higher price point DAC in hopes that it would fill in the missing characteristics of sound that the Canary II was not quite capable of providing. However, the next step up, this Aurora, was not available on Amazon, so after hunting for a while and not finding it I contacted the company for any sales channels in the US. They responded by posting the Aurora on Amazon and I ordered it as soon as it was offered. It arrived a couple of days ago and after break-in since then, it sounds very natural, has great transients, no screechies (with the proper power station), and deep solid bass with texture. Very happy customer, glad the offered it, and am listening to it streaming high resolution audio as I write this while keeping time to the music! You will hear the recordings as they are, texture and dynamics on the good ones, they will sound that way! Now the bad ones will be revealed as well. However, don't sacrifice great sound when it is possible just to settle for pedestrian sound on the poor recordings. You purchase will be worth the wait.....
