These were totally flat. Thought I had gotten totally ripped off. but left them out for like 3 days and they expanded to stated size more or less! Not high density, but I will try to work with them.

These adhered well with Hot melt glue to plastic sheeting, Dense Polyethylene foam, and ABS in some road cases/equipment cases, so they are not strictly limited to applying to walls. The one image shows them after they had been allowed to expand a bit as they are very compressed when they arrived ( The bundle was perhaps a little under 6 inches high when recieved.). The sheets are nested together to also reduce wasted volume (the foam will initially look like slabs of 1-1/2 inchfoam until you seperate them.).Since these are intended to go on walls, they are somewhat thin, but that is what they were made for. If using in road cases or equipment cases for padding/protection, gluing in a layer of Polyethylene foam first and then applying the Crenelated foam to the PE foam will work very well.If you are going to apply these to walls, mark the walls with chalk lines first to keep the sheets aligned as they go on and don't waste time trying to align the cut crenelations. Spray adhesives will work well, as does hot melt glue. If you need to make adjustments during the installation, you may want to find a slower setting Mastic type of adhesive because spray adesives and hot melt glues are not very forgiving of trying to adjust once put in place.As for potential concerns of "chemical smell", there was very little odor with the bundle I recieved.

The media could not be loaded.  I got a tiny thin package and was concerned at first.I thought I accidentally ordered 1pc.After ripping open the packaging, I found the instructions.Ever buy those capsule foam animals for the kids in the bathtub?This is the adult version.To my delight I watched them fill out and become the egg crate shape they were aspired to be. 🤣As far as sound absorbing, I’m not sure yet but they were super fun.

Good stuff works as expected

So I can’t really say if these work as they should for sound proofing anything. I personally bought them to line the base of a box I’m using to store some guns, and for that purpose they worked great. Fit perfectly, added just enough padding,and were easy to cut to fill out all the edges of the box. Only side comments I can make that may help buyers looking to use these as intended: definitely give them a wash ahead of time. They had a slightly off smell and a simple rinse cleared that. I ended up using an air dryer multiple times to get them completely dry (water REALLY sets into these things) and they were good to go. The rest of the pads I didn’t use fully fluffed up on their own within a day, so if you don’t want to wash these you’ll be fine to use them as is. Also, I personally didn’t find these to have much in the way of adhesive. The little paper inside said to be mindful of the adhesive side if choosing to wash them, but I never felt anything remotely sticky on the pieces I handled. And the ones I didn’t wash seem to be the same way.

Make sure you check the thickness.

Hello, You get what you pay for! Yes you get 48 semi-square foam adhesive backed tiles. However after unpacking, laying out on my pool table for 24 hours, all but four expanded to full size..Ish. But good enough for my project. Now the rub. If you plan on these being square and lining up so you can't see the seams and be square (also different sizes), these aren't going to work. Unless you take the time and and cut everyone to fit together properly. The listing pictures show a stack cleanly cut to fit together but not in reality. Personally I'm installing mine in a wall cavity so really didn't matter but figured it will to someone trying to have it show.Hopefully this helps, Ward's World

It is not as thick as I thought it was going to be, but it seems to be doing the job very well. I have it set up to cut out ambient noises for my microphone and so far so good it seems to be doing a good job at just picking up. What is the record towards that microphone and not picking up the background noise.
