Organize Now!: A Week-by-Week Guide to Simplify Your Space and Your Life

Absolutely BEST Organizing Book!
I am chronically disorganized. I have purchased an read the *best* organizing books out there and while the ideas in them are great, my problem was implementation! I would look at a mess and think to myself, I don't even know where to start. So then I wouldn't start at all or I would get discouraged at a lack of progress. This book is broken down week by week in discrete subparts, such as organize your email or organize your car. You can start at any point (I started on week 17, organize your car) and it goes through step by step, THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO! You can check the items off one by one and there is a place to list additional items that are pertinent to you. There is then a list of items on HOW to stay organized for that particular area. Many of them I have put on the calendar to keep me in line, others are just habits that needed to be formed. Often there were items I hadn't even thought about.By breaking it down into smaller parts, and adding a checklist, it is much easier to tackle items and see progress. The car only took a couple of hours and then I was able to do another project. Seeing progress is very motivating! There are additional weeks provided that probably don't apply to everyone (organize a move, organize a new baby) but that very well could come in handy. This is a book I will certainly use, all the others are going off to the used book store!

Spiral bound and content galore!
I got this along with a few other titles along the same line. I ended up liking this one best. I'll admit that I almost need someone to organize my organizing books, but I kept looking for the silver bullet. This is as close to it as it comes. I would buy this book again, if I lost it. It's sprial bound so it's easy to have laying open, the book is great quality hard cover with nice colorful pages. Another title I really like is "30 Days to a Simpler Life" by Connie Cox and Chris Evatt.I notice that it is coming out in a paper back. It would still be a great book to have, but I really do prefer the spiral bound.

Practical Application in this Book!
I bought this book on a whim & this is one spontaneous purchase that was worth it. I love the way the book is broken up into 52 weeks and give tasks in organization to go through in your life/home/work. I've been to several Organizational Seminars but always leave being able to bring in a few ideas, but not being able to make thorough changes throughout my entire life/home. This book brings the practical application into the home with great ideas on where to start and "mini-victories" throughout the week that roll into large ones through the months. Great buy.

Simple, Useful, and Helpful
I love this book so much, I had one sent to my sister, too!Who doesn't need a little help getting control their space? This book has a great layout of one-week-at-a-time organizing goals. You can pick any week to get started; there's no need to go 'in order', pardon any pun. I especially love the check-off lists so one has a feeling of accomplishment right away. For my sister and I, who, collectively, are University students going for Ph.D. and M.A., respectively; have two boys in college and one in kindergarten; work a combination of 4 jobs; plus all that goes with life and family, this book is a pleasant guide to staying prepared and staying sane. Thanks!

Easy, Fun and Pretty Way to Organize
The layout of this book is excellent with bulleted lists that make it easy to take in the information. It is not a book that overanalyzes organizing...it simply lists what you need to do to get organized in each area of your life.I have to admit that the cover of this book played a part in my purchase and the inside of the book is just as pretty with preppy, perky, springtime colors. It is a hard cover book with hidden spiral binding which allows the book to stay open at the page being read.Great organizing book for those who just want to get it done!

Great way to start the year
I noticed that a previous reviewer said that she has read tons of organizing books and thought this one wasn't terribly origninal. For those of us that are looking for our "first" organizing book, I think this one is great. I like that things are broken into weeks, and there are nice little checklists. I purchased two copies, and a friend and I are working on it together.

Excellent !
This book is one of the best organizing books I have seen. I have purchased quite a few over the last couple of years. Not only are the tasks broken down by weeks, but they are very DO-able. Takes the overwhelming feeling out of the situation. Book itself is beautiful. I enjoy using it daily keep focused. I feel like I will finally get my home organized as it should be. This is the best support book I have seen. Would recommend it to all and would even give it as a gift. Great Great Book!

Straightforward and simple
I don't think getting organized could be made any easier. The author trims the fat and gives a short list of goals for each area of your life that will help you get organized without a whole lot of chatter on the topic. She also includes a list of tips for each section and also monthly, quarterly, and yearly to-do items for maintaining the organization The format and design of the book itself also lends itself to ease of use. Love this book :)

Not as good as it could be
I love the look and feel of this book and the spiral bound design. Some of the content is quite useful and sensible, but a lot of it you can get from organizing and minimalist blogs online for free. The '52 weeks' sounds good in theory but there are so many irrelevant topics and each topic, however esoteric, has a week assigned to it. eg:- "Organize your pets" - don't have one, "Organize your pregnancy" - not pregnant, "Organize your Crafts" - don't do craft "Organize your Attic" - we live in a 2 bed flat, "Organize your Basement" - ditto, "Organize your Laundry Room" - ditto, "Organize your Mudroom" - ditto and anyway who in tarnation has a specific room to keep mud in? (joke..)) Some of the suggestions are way too far for me: eg "Once a year take new photos of your family members for your safety folder. Be sure to note their heights and weights." What is that - in case they get kidnapped???And some of the tips sounded to me like they were designed to consume time rather than save it eg "Create a visual chart of what your child needs to do in the morning for school[...]Draw the pictures, clip them from magazines or take a picture of your child completing the task[...]so she can be self-sufficient." Personally I favour "Hey [name of kid] get yourself ready for school or you won't have time to watch Bakugan before we leave!" I guess I'm just a different type of parent.I think I'm already more organized than the target audience for this book - with a family of four in a 2 bed apartment, we have to be! I don't regret buying it, and have noted down a few useful ideas from it, but I won't hang on to it for long.

A wonderful book to help you declutter your house and your life
I have read many books on decluttering as I come from a family of hoarders and this is easily my favourite. I love this book because it is so simple, practical and well-designed. The book is broken up into 52 sections and you are supposed to complete a section each week. The first thing I noticed about this book is how wonderfully practical it is. A lot of decluttering books are more focused on the psychology of the problem. They are very useful, but this book is more about just getting your life sorted out. It does deal with the emotional/psychological reasons and is very inspiring, but the main focus is just getting on with it!The book is very well-designed. It is spiral-bound so you can have it open at the chapter you are working on. Each chapter has lists, tick boxes and room for notes. The programme is not overwhelming as it is spread over a year and the tasks are very specific. For example, one week is focused on going through your medical cabinet and another week is focused on sorting out your bills and receipts. There are also a few weeks which focus on issues like preparing to move house or going on holiday. Some weeks will probably not apply to everyone (e.g. I just skipped the sections related to children), but that just means you can have a week off or you get a chance to repeat a week that you didn't finish! This is an American book, but I found that most of the advice was applicable to the UK as well.

BRILLIANT!
I purchased this book after looking at the authors website and finding it helpful. This book is excellent! It is easy to use, you can start from the beginning and work through it systematically or you can choose where in your house you'd like to start and findthe right page for inspiration. A definate great buy!

Waste of money
I was impressed with the idea of this book from the description online but found it to be a real waste of money for me. I really liked the ideas of the checklists as I thought it would really trigger me to do things: but some of the goals listed are massively time consuming and I didn't really find them very helpful. I also purchased 'one year to an organized life' and found this more helpful as it looks more at why things are the way they are and helps you to address that rather than just tell you what to do. It also looks at an area per month not per week (as this book does). The appearance of this book is great: I love the ring binding and it feels lovely to hold, but sadly the contents were not helpful for me. I am sure that if you were already highly organised and needed a maintenance plan this would be great, or if you spread each weeks' activities out over a longer time period of time that might work, but theyn you will feel like you are oing to get to the end!
