Question 1

is it true that hair fall will also increase?

Accepted Answer

While dandruff and hair loss can have many causes, you might be surprised to learn that a skin fungus is often thought to cause dandruff. The fungus usually lives quietly on our scalp, but sometimes it grows out of control, causing itching, flakes and scales – typical dandruff symptoms -- and in some people, dandruff can promote hair loss. It’s normal to lose some hair now and then. But excessive hair loss might be more than something you inherited; it might be caused by dandruff. In fact, people with dandruff can lose 2-3 times more hair per day than those without dandruff.

If you have dandruff and hair loss, Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo may be able to help. Nizoral Anti-Dandruff shampoo is different from other OTC dandruff shampoos. Only Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo contains ketoconazole 1% a powerful antifungal that stops scalp fungus growth, and once the fungus is controlled, so are your dandruff symptoms. Plus, a clinical study showed that when Nizoral Anti-Dandruff is used regularly* it controls dandruff and even helps control hair loss associated with dandruff. (*based on a clinical study of 1% ketoconazole shampoo when used 2 to 3 times per week for 6 months)

Question 2

Has anyone used it for hair loss? Did it work?

Accepted Answer

“Nizoral A-D is FDA approved and indicated for dandruff.  It is not approved or indicated for hair loss.  The product is only to be used every 3-4 days to treat dandruff. Hair loss may occur as a result of long term untreated dandruff. A published clinical study showed that the active ingredient in Nizoral when used 2-3 times per week for 6 months helped control dandruff and hair loss associated with dandruff.”
