Top side of the 10 gallon steel drum had a large dent in the side. The lid of the Steel drum were the round hole with bolt holes to mount the Cyclone, one of the holes looks like it was damaged, small amount of rust with tape over it???? I cleaned everything up, assembled the unit. This was all factory damaged, sent out this way to the customer. The Dust Deputy 2.5 Deluxe 10 Gallon Cyclone Separator does what is was designed to do. Works great, just not pleased with Oneida shipping a factory damaged product to its customers. New unit arrived today 9/15/2022, everything in working order, except 1 ea. C3 Whiz-Lock Nut (c3) as shown in Fig c3 of the manual is missing, used for mounting the gasket. I have emailed Oneida to see if I can get 1 C3 Whiz-Lock nut shipped to me, no point in returning the whole unit for 1 nut. I am using the same filter I installed the day hooked up the dust collector. Not only is this dust collector wonderful, but the company has awesome customer service. When it arrived, there was one plastic tab broken in transit. It was not a big deal but I called them and they asked for a picture and immediately sent a replacement lid free of charge. I use this dust collector every single day in my shop. The hose wore a hole in it after 18 months of constant use. Or can I just purchases a 5-gallon bucket at Lowes?** A: The buckets they supply with the deluxe are 100 Mil thick buckets specifically designed for dust collection. The manufacturer rates them for up to 150 CFM. They're definitely higher quality buckets than what you would find at Lowes or whatever (though those would still work - high CFM vacs might collapse the Lowes buckets though) The extra $50 also gets you some caster wheels, a foam mounting block & hardware, a really nice anti-static hose for connecting to the vac, an AS/SD elbow adapter, and the lid is already pre-cut. Overall it makes the install a lot simpler. I felt it was worth the added price but it's definitely a personal choice. **Q: I need to vacuum after demolition. Have to pick up blown insulation, drywall, plaster nails etc. Will this bucket hold these items or just dust?** A: The manufacturer says it works with almost any material, and I'm inclined to believe them after using the kit and watching other videos online. Drywall shouldn't be a problem, neither should the nails. Not too sure about the insulation, as that's pretty light and fibrous. But I've had it work well with pet hair up to a point. When the bucket starts to get 97.5%+ full the reeeally light stuff starts to make it past into the vac. **Q: why 2 buckets** A: the 1st catches the dust- it goes inside the 2nd. The 2nd has comes with hardware to mount it to you shop vac. Then to empty it, just pull bucket #1 out of # 2--very easy. **Q: Would this be useful for dust control from an orbital sander on wood trim and doors? I'm concerned that the sanding dust may be too fine.** A: Yes, this will drop almost all the dust in the bucket. A small amount may go into the vac/filter. I have used this for sheetrock/joint compound sanding dust and it is very effective. When cutting plaster and sheetrock in a remodel my wife hold the vac hose near the blade and reduces the generated dust dramatically. Amazing. *by D***E on 2 November 2025* This is an amazing product for vacuuming dry stuff. It separates cyclonically and collects in the bucket. I just finished cutting sheet material from plywood. 8 sheets of plywood cut to make 30 drawers, on poplar runners and 3/4” carcas. Drawers are 4””-8” and cabinet is 6’x7’. From the cutting to size all of all of the 240 parts going into this project, I collected one 5 gallon bucket of sawdust to the top, and maybe a 5% filled dust bag in the shop vac.
