We now use the large breed adult version for our 6 year old Golden Retriever. **Q: I did not realise this product is gorcbig dogs. my dog is s spaniel. i wish to exchange this product for the same for a mediumdig. how do i arrange t** A: The packet I have clearly stated for small adult dogs so not sure which one you have received. **Q: At what point for barking head dry large breed dogs do they change to adult food from puppy food. I have a 12 month old gold retriever .** A: Medium to large breed dogs need to be on Puppy food for a minimum of 12 months with the biggest of breeds remaining on Puppy food for around 18 months. For you breed of dog, I would suggest remaining on Puppy food for another month or two and slowly introducing adult food up until 18 months. From then on they can be on adult food (once fully on adult food we would recommend some kind of rotational feeding with different flavours e.g. chicken / lamb / duck etc to maximise health benefits). Hope that helps but do check with your vet if you need a more tailored and specific recommendation and always feed the feeding guides on pack. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sn/products/50895995-barking-heads-dry-adult-dog-food-12kg-chicken-for-large](https://www.desertcart.sn/products/50895995-barking-heads-dry-adult-dog-food-12kg-chicken-for-large) --- *Product available on Desertcart Senegal* *Store origin: SN* *Last updated: 2026-10-08*
