Great for children and adults alike...
I read a lot of books to my four year old - some that he loves, some that I love, and some that we both love. 'The Bear Who Stared' has fallen straight into that last category. The story is straight-forward: a socially challenged bear struggles to make friends as all he does is stare at the other animals in the forest, which makes the animals feel awkward and the bear feel sad. That is until he meets a wide-mouthed frog, who teaches him a simple lesson: smile! From there on in, the bear finds that by smiling he gets a far better reception and everyone is happy.Whilst the story is very good, the illustrations are the real draw to this in this book in my opinion. They are fabulous, bold and funny, and Beedie really captures the essence of a slightly dopey bear who doesn't understand what he's doing wrong. Whilst I think this is his first written and illustrated book (hopefully of many), he has illustrated at least one other book: 'Pirates Don't Drive Diggers.' This also gets five stars on Amazon and is worth adding to your collection.Overall, parents and children will not be disappointed with 'The Bear who Stared'.

Great condition and price. The book was a gift and it was loved by the recipient. The book is quite shiny and the illustrations were beautiful meaning it was something I was really happy with.

Lovely illustrations and a nice size
Lovely illustrations and a nice size- big enough to ensure your child is absorbed in the book and not distracted by other things at bedtime!

Very good
Very cute story. My boy just started in a new nursery and we thought it may help with his shyness.

Excellent book for children
Excellent book for children. Our 2 3/4 year old loves it. I am sure it would pass the Mum's Net suitability test, which is pretty stringent.Well written, with enough post modern references to keep the adults entertained. It poses some deep questions about life and why we stare. Closest thing I have read to Shakespeare.
