My door's situation was not like any shown, but it still worked. Outer metal lip exceeds the casing by a lot to the point it is exceptional. I wasn't sure even if the extention on the item would be far enough out. Make sure you look at how the item is set up as its not apparent as to the reason why until you try to install it yourself. There is a video, I highly suggest you watch it although the lock appears to be straightforward. I will be using this on my own apartment main door that opens to a hallway as we have had breakins. Also, if you feel that maintenance or property management is unlawfully entering your home, this works well. I will buy a 2nd one for traveling and safety. It is well made and I had someone try to force the door open once they used the key and they couldn't get in. Travelability: Small and easy to keep on your person even while out and about. Safety: Easy to remove in case of fire. Fit: I knew it would fit because I can see light from the hallway. Color: Its a portable lock, if you care about the color and not the safety, then your priorities are off. I wasn't sure how well this would work but let me tell you... It's SO much better than I expected and a heck of a lot better than those that you put under the handle and kick the bottom of the pole to secure the bar. This little contraption seems like nothing will get through the door because of how secure it is! The design is much smaller than I thought it would be, but it's so easy to use and fits right into the door socket with the bolt lock easily securing as well. Another great thing about this is I can take it with us when we stay at a hotel or travel anywhere because it can fit right into our pocket lol Highly recommend

This is a great tool for providing an extra layer of protection from intruders, especially for a single female! My door has a lot of give when locked, so I was concerned that it could be knocked down relatively easily. When I put this lock on, the door barely moves at all when someone is trying to open it. It is much more secure. My father even tried to use force and knock his shoulder into the door while trying to open it, and it still barely moved. It would definitely make it a lot harder for a thief to break in. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is due to the fact that it does leave a small impression in the wood on the door frame. Due to the force of the lock, it has widened the gap between my door and door frame probably about 1.5-2 centimeters. This makes it slightly easier for pests to get it. However, it is very hard to find a good quality lock that is overall renter-friendly, so I would still say that this one is worth it. Great for girls (or guys too) in college!

Great product, simple but exactly fullfil the purpose 100%. Fits great. Not a huge equipment but smart enough to do the job.

Seems great, but it does not allow my door to close because of how my door frame is shaped. Basically, unless you have a straight door frame with no crown molding, or irregular shaping in general, it's not going to fit in your door won't be able to close.

This definitely comes in handy and very durable. It’s pretty heavy for its size. Feel way more safe with this on. Very much apartment friendly. No more maintenance just barging in. Yay
