Does the spindle lock so you can tighten by hand?

To tell you the truth I haven’t used mine very much. The way you trigger it-it’s hard to put pressure on the device when using it to install screws. I don’t care for it.

Is there a version of this tool with an interchangable battery so that it could be used for large jobs?

I don't think so but you could just carry a battery bank with usb port they are common.

Why can't l find a US made cordless screwdriver?

I think this type of consumer stuff is mostly made overseas. I doubt that much in made in the US anymore, but this is a controversial subject. Makita is a Japan brand, but this item is probably made in China. Even the german brands (e.g. Wiha) outsource production.

What is the rpm setting?

The speed is set by you trigger pressure, as is common with drill of all types. Practice this before using it on something expensive. At the end of screwing or drilling the device should not whip out of your hand because you've already slowed the speed.
