Exactly what we needed for new hardwood floor humidity levels, we get way too dry!
This was a necessity to keep our whole house humidity level where it needed to be after we had new hardwoods installed. We need a dehumidifier for our hot and rainy seasons here in North Carolina, but our winters get way too dry inside and THAT is not good for hardwoods. This unit is just the right size for our 1,500sqft home. I set it up in no time, added some hard water filters to the bottom, filled it to max (10 gallon) with tap water, and set it to 50% humidity on the AUTO setting. The 1st full tank took a week or so to run out just to catch the house humidity level up from our humidity sensor reading "LOW" (below 30%). I refilled the tank and it turns on and tops off the humidity from time to time but isn't running hard and is always very quiet whether running full throttle or turning on for a moment. The display shows every feature and the remote works for everything. The display LED's can be turned off so you don't have bright light in the house at night but I like the lighting and the unit looks nice too not too bulky or cheap looking. After a LOT of research I'm glad I got this humidifier! My garage air purifier and my youngest daughter has allergy problems bedroom air filter are Levoit, they're great too! Easy to use looks super easy to clean. Use hard water filter pods or distilled water if you have hard water like we do.

Works well, easy to clean, highly recommended
Bought this humidifier based on NYT Wirecutter recommendation. My bedroom is particularly dry over the winter time, so I needed something to bring the humidity level up. This humidifier works great. Easy to set up and run. My bedroom is about 12 x 15 with a cathedral ceiling, and the machine successfully raises the humidity from 30-35% to 45-50% and keeps it at that level over the 8 hours I'm sleeping. I fill the tank with a gallon of distilled water, and I'm able to run it about 2 nights before the water runs out. The noise level is noticeable when it is on, but not very loud. I usually run a white noise machine at night anyway which completely covers any sound the humidifier makes. I do recommend using the heated steam setting over the winter as it seems to make the room more comfortable. As for cleaning, I've had the humidifier about a month, and I've just been emptying the tank every 2 days, taking it apart (which is quite easy), wiping down the parts with a microfiber cloth, and then letting it air dry over the course of the day. That seems to work well. I do plan on doing a deeper cleaning after a month probably following the recommendations made by Wirecutter for how to do that. You have the option to use essential oils if you want to try aromatherapy, however, I've not tried that, and I'm not sure how healthy that would be for overnight use. You can use an app with the machine which gives you better control over the machine (like finer grain control of humidity settings and options to turn off display), but it's not required. It is pretty easy to set up, and I like being able to use the app on my phone to control it from bed when needed. If you need a humidifier, I highly recommend it.

3rd season with this humidifier and loving it!
I’ve owned this humidifier since November 2023 and it’s still going strong! I live in a small, one bedroom condo and keep this in my bedroom and it humidifies the entire place. I use only distilled water in it as the tap water where I live is very hard. Distilled water makes the cleaning very easy as I’m not cleaning up build up of minerals or scaling, just cleaning any bacteria that builds up over time. Since I do not need to use the included water filter, I remove the part that houses it which equals less things to clean. I also do not use the little felt pad because we use distilled water. I haven’t used the aromatherapy pad. The top fill is a game changer and makes replenishing water so quick, easy, and hygienic. I use to hate flipping my old humidifier over to unscrew the wet cap and then flip the full, heavy reservoir onto the base. Overnight, I go through about a gallon of distilled water. If I’m home during the day I typically go through 2 gallons (one during the day and one overnight). If we get particularly cold weather then I will go through maybe 2 1/2-3 gallons in an entire day as the forced air heating runs more frequently. If the weather isn’t as cold, a gallon of water could last 2 nights or more, and one gallon would suffice for an entire day. I will say that the humidity reading is off by about 15% in my case, so I have to set the target humidity higher so that I get to the level I actually want, not lower. It’s not a problem once you tweak it to give you the humidity you need. I also set the warm mist level to high as I believe the warm mist is much more effective and beneficial than the cold mist. It is quiet. With the warm setting set to high you do hear a “simmer/boiling” sound however I do find that sound to be soothing, like a pot of soup on the stove. I use the app to control it and set it on a schedule. I love that I don’t have to remember to turn it off before I go to work in the morning. The app is very user friendly and even has additional features like plant care. I’ve added every plant I have to the app and it reminds me when to water and fertilize them which has made my black thumb a bit greener! My plants are thriving thanks to that feature. Whenever this device decides to give up, I will buy the same one again. I’ve recommended this product to anyone who asks. It really saves my sinuses in the dry north east winters. And it really saves my husband’s skin, he suffers from eczema. No more nose bleeds and no more eczema break outs! Comfort in the dead of winter. Buy this!

Solid Performance
I needed to humidify an addition to the house that has its own independent HVAC, which means it's not tied in with my whole house humidifier. It gets extremely dry in the winter and I have guitars that need consistent humidity. My luthier has a similar model to this and has been happy with his for a couple of years, so I took a chance on the same brand. It's easy to fill, and I like that. It's extremely quiet, especially when using the steam mist. The mist is extremely fine so it doesn't settle. Lots of folks have complained about the hygrometer and it is somewhat unstable. It will get you in the ballpark, but monitoring with a separate hygrometer suggests it's usually quite low. For example, to get to 45% in the room, I'm usually running a 55% setting. It's in the manual that you don't want this thing on the floor; you need it at tabletop height. Mine is a little lower than that, and I think the issue is that the hygrometer gets fooled by the unit's own mist, so until the humidity dissipates from the location of the machine, it tends to think it's satisfied. This leads the unit to cycle a fair amount, but I don't see any particular harm to that behavior. In general, it holds humidity about where I want it at a 55% setting, but this varies depending on how hard it's working. Drier air means the above effects gets exacerbated, and then for me to get low 40s, I need to ask for 60 or 65. It's mildly annoying but not fatal. It has an auto-off if it runs out of water. I gave up using distilled water as I'm using over half a gallon a day in winter, so tap water it is. Ours is fairly soft and high in mineral content, and I haven't seen any obvious deposits or performance issues in 3 months of steady usage. Seems to be a good unit. UPDATE, 1/2/25: This unit continues to perform well. One quirk about its internal hygrometer I'll add is that if it's really dry and the unit hasn't run in a while, it tends to read ridiculously high--like it'll say it's 65% in the room when it's really 30%. The unit pumps moisture when it's first turned on, and this brief cycle is usually enough to dampen the hygrometer and get it reading more in its more sane range. Sometimes I cycle it twice and then it's fine. Whenever it's dry, it's set and forget and I just put in water. As for the tap water thing, DON'T DO IT. At the end of a season, I had a film on walls, windows, everywhere. And the unit needed a heck of a cleaning. I got tired of buying gallons and gallons of distilled water, so I bought a Vevor distiller on here for under $100 and it's paying for itself as we speak. If you're a regular user of this unit, I do recommend distilling your own water.

I've tried a lot of humidifiers, and this one is my favorite. EDIT: And awesome customer service
I have a wood stove, so dry air is a challenge, and I've had about 10 different humidifiers in the past several years, so I'm something of an expert, I guess. I've tried Vicks, Bionaire, Homedic, and some more expensive units. But I've had this for almost a month now, and I think my search is finally over... this unit has the highest output of any of the steam or cool mist units I've tried. It's really very good, in all aspects, and I haven't had any of the issues others have mentioned... it simply works, it's quiet, and cleaning isn't hard at all. The controls and the amount of precise control you have over the output is excellent, and the humidistat seems to be very accurate. When it's out of water it stops every time, and when you refill you don't have to reset all your settings... it holds them until you manually turn the unit off. I also like how small it is, and it's very easy to move it to wherever you want it. Refilling is easy, it has jsut the right amount of capacity so it's not too heavy to refill (I think it's 1.5 gal) and the directional "spouts" work very well. Iv'e been extra careful with the tank after reading of some other people's problems with cracks, and it's been fine so far. Of course, with a wood stove, you need a LOT of humidity replacement. This Levoit can raise the humidity about 5-10%, but bear in mind I'm using this in a fairly large area, 800 sq ft, which is almost twice the recommended room size for this unit... so technically this unit shouldn't be big enough. But I just put it near our seating area and it makes a big difference... I was surprised at how much more humid the area feels. I tried it in the master bedroom and it blew the Vicks unit away, and got it to 50% pretty quickly. With the wood stove going, none of my steam humidifiers could even move my humidity needle 1%. And out of all the ones I've tried, only my huge evaporitive whole house humidifier has more output than this one... but while that beast can raise my humidity about 15-20% only when on the highest setting, it's such a pain to keep clean, you need to add chemicals which I don't feel is very safe, and it's really loud... so loud we didn't use it much. I can't really think of any negatives at all... it's really a great unit. I guess if I could get 2 for the price of one it would be better, but it's eel worth the money IMO. BTW, my suggestion is to stay away from cool mist... in fact I will never get a cool mist unit again. Even using 100% pure H2O (distilled) from my reverse osmosis system, it still makes a white dust, and the chemicals I tried only reduced the amount of dust, but didn't eliminate it. They're also really hard to keep clean, and bacteria is a real problem. Plus, who wants to add chemicals to the air you breath? Check it out... I don't think you'll be disappointed. EDIT: I've had it almost 2 years now, and the heat element stopped working for the warm mist. Granted, I use it daily all winter long, but in this day and age a heat element should last years. I simply wrote to Levoit, explained the problem, verified my receipt and all that, and they're sending me a new one. No hassles, no cost. That's the way it should be... great company that stands behind their products! How rare these days.

Easy to use with a minor drawbacks!
I have two of these and a Pure Guardian H3200WCA. I like the Levoit much better because the water tank is very stable when filling it where the Pure Guardian must be balanced as the filling port is on the opposite side of the curved tank. I had to roll a towel up from two edges to form a trough to hold the tank steady. The Levoit has a flat top and bottom. You turn it over and remove the lid, pour in the water and put the lid back in. The only drawback is the Levoit has blue lights that cannot be shut off, which makes it harder to sleep if this is used in a bedroom. A final comment the Levoit has yet to grow the red bacteria found in my area where the Pure Guardian seems to be a breeding ground for it. The bacteria is harmless but does require cleaning to avoid a slime build up. Over the two weeks we have had this unit the aromamizer fan became noisy and when I tried to disable it I found that Levoit does not build their products to be repaired. Three of the screws were conventional Phillips the third, buried deep in a hole, proved to be an number 15 Torx. Now the only sound is from the hum of the power supply and it was muffled by stuffing 1 1/2 cotton balls into the aromamizer port. I am a strong supporter of requiring products to be built to be serviceable by the owner. As an IEEE Fellow and amateur machinist I feel it wrong to make me spend $200 to fix something I could fix is 15 minutes. Boo! Levoit. But it is a good humidifier:-) Six month update: We bought a second one to keep up with the cold, dry winter. It is easy to fill, which is good given the number of gallons we run through it a day. Both units have a strong tendency to race the fan motor just after filling the reservoir and make a lot of noise. A few whacks to the side solves the problem. If the unit had a filling port on top it would be easier to fill and the fan probably would not get into the race condition. Update: The solution to the race condition is to unplug the unit when filling it. Do not use the on/off key because the unit runs until the water inside the unit is exhausted. If unplugged the water level remains and when restarted - no race noise! It also helps to add water to the base before putting the tank on. Update: The original units are getting too noisy, but because they are so easy to use and effective be have bought two new ones that appear to be slightly different. No motor racing noise yet but a high pitched hum has forced us to move them to more remote locations in the house, where they work fine and keep the house at 40% humidity. Update: Had trouble with one of the valves in the tank. Called Levoit and a new cap with valve was sent promptly. No hassle at all. Update #2: They have been in continuous operation for about 8 months, putting about 4 gallons of water into the air every day. No problems, but we did notice that initially there was red growth growing on the bottom side of the tank and the top of the base unit. We rinsed the surfaces with near-boiling water and after three rinses a week apart, the problem was gone. Still have to clean it periodically though. The red stuff is probably a bacteria, Serratia marcescens, which likes moist environments. It can cause infections, so keep it under control if you get it. We're still loving the units we got in 2018 and finding the tanks from the 2017 units useful as we keep them filled and swap the tanks, then refill at our convenience. Levoit should consider selling spare tanks.

Impressive new humidifier, great for those who travel
I'm writing this two weeks after purchasing my first of two of these new humidifiers from Levoit (I was so pleased with the first unit that I quickly ordered another during the Prime Day promotion). So far, so good. EDIT: Please note that this review ONLY pertains to the new, 10L model (the tall, skinny model). Some of the other reviews on here make mention of features (or lack thereof) for a different size model, since they are all grouped together on this one product page. I have been super impressed as they have a significant tank capacity while maintaining a relatively small footprint on your floor wherever you position them — about the same as much shorter humidifier units that they have replaced in my apartment. After having a wish list for years in what I was looking for, in the perfect apartment humidifier, this checks nearly every box. As mentioned, the 10 liter water tank capacity is massive, so there is far less frequent of a need for refilling. There's also a clever 360 degree rotating spout on the top, where the mist is projected out and into your room. This is great if you want to position the unit in the most aesthetically pleasing way within your space, but actually need the mist angled towards another, particular direction. The app connectivity is what I would say completely puts these into another tier versus other humidifiers I have owned over the years (of which there are many). In the app you can set up all sorts of automated routines as well as my most-preferred Auto setting. With this, the machine will intelligently turn the mist on and off, in addition to being able to throttle the amount of mist being projected, in order to maintain a target humidity percentage within your space. This can be set as high as 80% relative humidity, which is a lot higher than other auto settings I have seen on other humidifiers. If an auto setting would only allow for 60%, for instance, that wouldn't be high enough for my needs. This is actually why I feel like the unit is best suited for people maintaining a lot of plants (or simply requiring consistently HIGH humidity). Since you can set the auto setting as high as 80%, you can easily and effectively create an ideal environment if you're a big tropical plant enthusiast, as I happen to be. Furthermore, because of being able to use the app to control and monitor your humidity levels, it makes for an excellent solution for people who travel and need to maintain proper levels for their plants. I can't even begin to explain my past stress over what will happen to my plants if I had a week-long trip for work or leisure, when I knew that the humidity levels in my apartment would drop like a stone within a matter of two to maybe three days. With these units you can monitor and hold a decent level of humidity far longer than with anything else I have ever seen or tried. This peace of mind is really valuable to me. There is also Alexa support for voice commands, which is a nice plus. Again, this just checks off so many boxes that I wasn't sure I was ever going to find in one singular humidifier. The process to clean the unit seems easy enough, which thankfully I won't have to do quite as often as suggested. I only use water that has been purified from ZeroWater filters/pitchers (that remove all TDS/total dissolved solids from your tap water). Highly recommend going this route too — you will need to clean your unit a lot more often if you are using tap water! My only complaint is that I wish that the AC power cord was removable from the unit, so that you could more easily take the water tank and clean it without needing to worry about the cord as an electrical component. Plus, then you could take the unit and clean it more easily in, say, your bathtub. This is the only thing that I can possibly think of that the humidifier doesn't satisfy. So, it still deserves a five star rating for my needs.

Mist level cannot be combined with humidity control
I'll state the pros first: * Looks nice and sleek. * Love the viewing window to check water level and the fact that it goes almost all the way to the bottom of the unit. * Humidity sensor seems more accurate than most models I've tried. Still off by about 7-10% compared to external humidity sensor but a couple of units I've tried was off by as much as 20-25%. CONS: 1. Top of list. If you set a target humidity level the unit as well as VeSync app does NOT allow you to also set the mist level! This is an absolute show stopper and I've already told Levoit they need to change this design ASAP. 2. Further to #1 above. This unit is designed to output LOW mist only when it gets within 5% or less of target humidity. END RESULT: it NEVER reaches the target humidity even inside a room which is far less than it is supposed to be able to handle! The low mist setting is simply NOT enough to do more than maintain current humidity so it is stuck at 4-6% BELOW the target humidity. It literally NEVER stops running because of this. 3. If I set it on manual I can control the mist level and it is able to reach the humidity I want with no problem. BUT then that defeats the whole purpose because I am not about to accept having to turn this thing on and off manually all day long. Now compare this to the Levoit LV600S humidifier. On that unit you can set BOTH target humidity and mist level and as a result it is able to reach target humidity with no problem. BUT the problem with the LV600S is that the humidity sensor is wildly inaccurate. It gets into these modes where the humidity keeps going up even when the mist is OFF and sometimes goes DOWN when I turn the unit back ON! I tried 2 different ones of this model and BOTH have major problems with the humidity sensor which is why I decided to give Levoit one last try and got this 1000S model. Then of course I ran into the problem described above. This lack of not being able to set target humidity and mist level both have dropped the rating down to 2 stars! If not for this problem I would have probably given it 5 stars. That is how critical this problem is! I find myself doubtful that Levoit will fix this and if they don't they will permanently lose a customer and I will never purchase another of their products again. I will happily update this review and change my rating if Levoit fixes this SOON before I just give up and return this unit to Amazon and search for another brand. Are you listening Levoit? UPDATE: OK I'm raising the rating to 4 stars because Levoit came back with a workaround using SCENES in the main part of the VeSync app so that humidifier can be left in manual mode at highest mist level and be turned off and on via the scene. This works, however there is still a problem with the humidity sensor with Levoit humidifiers in general in that they sometimes becomes wildly inaccurate. I have multiple humidity sensors and the only one that has problems is the Levoit humidifier. Here is the issue: it seems to me that Levoit's humidity sensor needs to have some minimum amount of airflow around the aroma box in order for the sensor to be even remotely accurate. I keep my office door closed so it does not try to humidify the entire upstairs area and granted this does reduce airflow to a degree BUT again only Levoit has this problem. It gets into this mode where the mist is OFF and the humidity continues going up even though THREE other sensors start going down at the same time. Then when the mist turns ON the humidity starts going DOWN and then at some point it slowly starts going up again. If I simply open the office door after several minutes the humidity sensor starts mostly behaving itself. But I should not have to keep the door open and again the fact that only Levoit sensors have this issue tells me that this is a Levoit issue which needs to be fixed. Unfortunately I cannot keep this humidifier as leaving the office door open all the time is not an option. I can recommend this humidifier for people who don't keep the door closed in a relatively small room (less than around 175 or so sq feet) because the airflow in a larger space would probably be OK. Smaller spaces with somewhat less airflow causes problems with the Levoit sensors. To Levoit: Please, please redesign your humidity sensors to make them more reliable.

I’m very happy with this humidifier
This is the best ultrasonic humidifier I've owned. After purchasing and burning through half a dozen cheaper ones, I decided to spend a little more and get something larger, better and with more features. I couldn't be happier with this unit. The unit has 2 main modes you can run to achieve humidity level: - mist level mode: It runs by mist level output with three settings: low, medium and high indicated with a series of 1, 2 or 3 dots on the screen. Easy to set, easy to read and clearly indicated. In this mode it runs constantly until you either refill it or it empties. It will flash a warning light before it empties - humidity level mode: Your options are 40, 50, 60 70 or 80 % humidity setting. When using this mode, the unit goes into auto mode, and shuts off when the humidity level is achieved. Then it cycles back when humidity drops below that level by 5%. In this mode it auto cycles on / off to achieve the set humidity level. A note here: the humidity level you set is read by the device, at the device location. Therefore, if your room is larger, you'll need to set a higher humidity level on the device than what you want to achieve in the overall room. For me, in a 300 sq ft room, if I set the Levoit OasisMist to 60% target humidity, my room humidity (measured by another hygrometer at the other end of the room) ends up about 48 - 52%. If I set the Levoit OasisMist to 50%, my room humidity ends up about 38 - 42% humidity. Your mileage will vary by room size, but it is rated for a 600 sq ft room. 10 L tank & runtime: The 10 Liter tank is a big bonus if you've used smaller humidifiers. I mostly use target humidity of 60%. It cycles on / off as needed and the tank lasts about 50 - 55 hours (average). If I set the target to 50%, it lasts about 75 hours (average). The base chamber has carry handles / insets on the side of the unit to conveniently carry it after filling. Cleaning & water usage: Levoit recommends using distilled water. I refuse to pay for distilled water. My apartment building has a water softener. I use tap water. Because of that I expect it may not last as long as if I was using distilled water. I clean it once a week, even though Levoit recommends cleaning it every 3 days. It is pretty straightforward. You fill the base chamber with 6 cups of distilled white vinegar, and the top chamber with 1 cup of distilled white vinegar. Top and bottom chambers completely separate. Then carefully swish the vinegar around in both chambers, making sure to not contact the air outlet with the vinegar in the top chamber. You also lift the hose out from the base chamber, and disconnect the filter head (see attached picture in this review). Then you place the filter head into a container of vinegar so it's submerged. Soak that for one hour. Then pour out all vinegar and rinse all the parts until the vinegar smell is gone. DO NOT run vinegar through the humidifier with the unit turned on. A note on humidifiers and white dust: I’ve seen people asking whether one humidifier or another leaves a white dust. This is not a function of the humidifier but of how hard or soft your water is. My water is very soft, I’ve strip tested it. As a result, I see no white dust or residue using this humidifier. If your water is hard then expect to see this white residue. Also expect to clean it much more frequently. Filter: This unit doesn't need an additional filter. The filter head (containing beads) is connected to a hose in the base chamber, & it's the only 'filtering' the unit does. I clarified this with Levoit Customer Service. Yeah! No extra filter costs! Noise level. There is a very low volume whirring hum from the device that for me is only really audible when I’m within a few feet of the device. It is honestly no more than any other ultrasonic humidifier I’ve used, probably less. Then approximately once an hour it makes a deeper higher volume noise for 10 – 15 seconds that initially concerned me. I now understand this to be the pump drawing water. The pump draws water from the base unit, up a hose and dumps it into the upper chamber. I’d say it’s very brief about once an hour. Whether or not this noise will bother you is an individual tolerance. For me it is no bother because it’s infrequent, not overly loud, and I understand it’s a part of the function of the unit – a tradeoff for having a large 10L base chamber of water to draw on. The VeSync App. I’ve only just started playing with the VeSync app. It has the same functions as the unit through the device itself, or the remote, plus extra features like a plant humidity function which I’ve never used. It allows you to take a photo of a plant and scan that into the device to set up plant humidity functions. The app also has a ‘schedule’ function if you want to set the humidifier to turn on / off through a schedule. The app is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant Home devices. It has a template of voice commands in the app you can use, and is compatible with Routines. The App will notify you when the humidifier is empty and needs refilling. Lights. The humidifier has the ability to turn off all lights on the unit through a ‘sleep’ or ‘display’ button for using it in your bedroom while sleeping, if you want all lights off. You can turn off all the lights on the device itself, with the remote, or through the VeSync app. Sum. In sum, this humidifier makes a significant difference for me, completely eliminating dry itchy winter skin. My apartment is on the small side (~ 450 – 500 sq ft total in 2 rooms) and the room I’m using it in is only about 300 sq ft. Your mileage will vary.
