Is this for a small, medium, or large head? What are the deminsions?

The joy of these is that because of the way the elastic in used in the back (at the nape of the neck) they will fit just about anyone. I have a large head for a woman (7 5/8) and these are soft and comfortable to wear. My sister has a small head and found the same ones just as comfortable for her. They are attractive and, most importantly, easy to wear so that I am not pulling at them and annoyed by them. I cannot recommend this line highly enough. (I own 15 different colors/patterns)

does this fit loosely in the back? I cannot have anything press against the base of my skull at alll

It has an elastic band on the back That rests on the base of the skull. I can feel it, but does not feel tight. I would say it depends on the size of your skull. It is comfortable to wear. Good luck.

are they machine washable

Manufacture recommends hand washing in cold water and air dry. Product will ruin if you dry in hot dryer. All ChemoFashionScarf products are boutique style items and should be treated with the utmost care. If you must wash in a machine washer, please choose cold water/gentle cycle, slow/no spin. Do not machine dry. Cheers!

Can I wear this over a wig?

Hello, Our Abbey Caps can be worn just like any hat, cap or beanie over a wig or without. They look really cute with halo wigs. I wouldn't wear a particularly voluminous wig however. Try it and see if you like the look!
