These were a great price and works great!
I do use my alcohol stove in the winter. And the attachment makes SpaceX engines look puny. A MUST HAVE for Trangia fans!

Good value kit of winter camping useful Trangia gear for the Alcohol Stove aficionado.
For whatever reason, Trangia sells this "Winter Attachment" product to include not only the snap-onto-burner-base pre-heater attachment and an 8" Aluminum plate to serve as perhaps as an insulating standoff from winter frozen ground (when inverted) for their 25/27/28 cook-sets, but also another Trangia Alcohol burner identical to one that comes standard with most 25/27 and the 28 cook-sets. Now some 25/27 sets do come with their canister gas burner, so perhaps this is why this set includes the Alcohol burner. In any event, after many uses and expansion/contractions, these brass burners often do exhibit stress fractures, and a new one is needed, so having another is positive. The snap-onto-burner-base pre-heater attachment will work with Esbit's version of the Trangia Alcohol Burner or any of the other no-name-brand imitations. It will not work with the Evernew Titanium Alcohol Burner, which lacks the depressed ring onto which the pre-heater snaps. The concept is to ignite a teaspoon or so of Denatured Alcohol or Methanol poured onto the insulation-material pad on the bottom of the pre-heater attachment snapped onto the ready-to ignite Alcohol Burner, allowing the lazy flame of the burning Alcohol in the pre-heater to both heat and even ignite the Trangia Burner, which should then work quite well despite wintery-cold temperatures. All in all a good value, in comparison to the price of each of the components, of special value are the all-seasons useful 8" Aluminum plate and additional Trangia Burner. If you only want the snap-onto-burner-base preheater, it is separately available, but costs about half the price of this kit.

Perfect for cold weather campers
My experience with alcohol burner based stoves overall has been relegated to warm weather mainly due to poor performance in the cold. I've has to use a gas burner for winter camping if I wanted a hot meal. The reviews I came across for the Trangia Winter Stove Kit led me to try this contraption out. I was not disappointed to say the least. The first morning in the field it was a brisk and windy 15 degrees fahrenheit. It almost seemed like the burner worked better than it did in warm weather. You can see that we were prepared for failure as we had the gas burner adapter at the ready. But we never needed it. All of out meals were cooked using the Trangia alcohol burner. Considering that you get a burner, the adapter and the plate in this kit, it is a fantastic value. If you are a cold weather camper, it is a must have.

Product needs some tweaks.
This does what is advised, getting the burner to bloom more quickly in cold weather. But you need to use this in conjunction with an external pot support...it does not work well with the simple cheap "x" supports that rest directly on the burner. But there are 2 design choices that keep me from recommending it. The more minor is that when transporting it together, the priming cup gets locked too tightly around the burner-I usually have to pry them apart with my multi tool to get them to the correct separation. The more major problem is that Trangia embossed their big T out from the bottom of the priming cup. THIS IS NOT SAFE! A common way to use the burner is with a simple x support that rests on the burner and supports the pot. The way the logo is embossed makes this system really unstable, I have lost multiple pots of boiling water this way.

Amazing winter attachment
Works very well Base can be used as a lid or an additional plate

Not for everyone
It has a small dimple that makes it unstable when setting on a surface. Only for the Trangia compatible stove kits where the burner hangs with enough room underneath. It's potentially dangerous when setting on a surface that isn't level, or when it could be moved slightly. Only for stove kits that hang the whole thing without the bottom touching.

Great addition to the Storm Cooker
Bought this addition to the Storm Cooker for cold and winter use, I have a few white gas stoves for winter use but I love the old school feel of the Trangia Storm Cooker. The kit is actually a good price concidering you get a burner, heater and the plate/ reflector.

Maybe not a necessity, but still not bad...
I'm going to preface this review by saying that I've never had a problem with any Trangia gear that I have purchased. I got one of the 25 cook sets, and I absolutely LOVE it. I have used it camping, I have used it tailgating, and I have used it during power outages when our electric stove would not work. You can really do much more cooking with it than you would think, and it has been a true blessing during power outages. I decided to buy the winter attachment to add to my collection, and while it seems just as durable as any other piece of Trangia gear I own, I really do question whether it is truly needed. I have never had an issue getting one of the burners to light in freezing temps when I've warmed it up through body heat, or had it snuggly packed away, or just used a lighter underneath it for a few seconds, but I also have never used one of these consistently in sub-zero temps either. So to anybody contemplating on purchasing one of these, I would advise you to consider your actual uses. For 3 season weekend camping, you probably don't need to buy this. If you live in Alaska or plan to climb Mt. Everest or something, then you may want to consider it I guess. If you just really like Trangia stuff, then you may want to just go ahead and buy it. You are getting a plate/pot cover, the burner, and the winter attachment for not too much more than what the burner itself costs. Having two burners will also expand your cooking capabilities as well.

Damaged
Ground heat shield is very flimsy and arrived damaged (crushed in the box). Should be packaged better!

Viene incompleto y vulnerado el pedido
Sólo llegó el plato de aluminio y nada más...; la bolsa viene rita por arriba..., aunque parece rotura no reciente. Probablemente por allí extrajeron la estufita de alcohol y el accesorio incluido.

Wish I had bought one of these years ago - absolute game changer
Wish I had bought one of these years ago. I love cooking on meths but could be frustrated when brewing up for lunch at work in a field/hill and waiting forever for the burner to "bloom" and begin a good amount of heat output when working from 0°C to 15° this could take quite a while. Two drops of methylated spirits on the pre burner and at -6°C when camping the other week in snow the burner was in bloom after 10-20 seconds - absolute game changer, infact they should be factory fitted to all new burners in the UK IMO. The supplied plate is also super - it's shape means you can level the stove on an not quite flat surface which is great for not having your cooking oil on one side of your frying pan etc. The one negative from all of this is that the heating attachment was stuck fast onto the supplied meths burner and many a broken finger nail and car trim remover resulted from removing it - I had to use a vice in the end! (would be better if this was for sale with just the attachment rather than a whole new meths burner).

pricey but works well
The cold weather attachment for the Trangia stove is well built and will extend the season for the alcohol burner. I'd still not advise it's use below -10C. A white gas stove is more efficient at those really cold temps. Fortunately, it rarely gets that cold where I'd be most likely to use it. However, it is a requirement in any sub-freezing temp. The alcohol in the burner needs a bit of a boost to increase it's volatility in cold weather otherwise it takes a lot longer to boil/cook. The winter kit comes with it's own burner which is not needed because there's one with whatever Trangia kit you already have. These burners have no moving parts making them long-lasting and having a spare around is simply a bit of a waste. Bizarrely, though, when the attachment is fitted to the my original burner the combo is a tight fit in the burner hole (term?) of my 25-5 UL windscreen but when used with the one that comes with this winter kit it isn't a problem. I found the notion that the two burners were slightly different sizes (about 1mm in diameter) a bit odd. This is nearly the price of the stove kits, this seems a bit expensive and shipment packaging indicates that it may have shipped from Hong Kong. However, I couldn't find both the winter attachment and the reflector plate anywhere other than Amazon. Therefore, this was a viable, if pricey, option. The cost of the winter kit could be considerably reduced by omitting the burner and including simply the pre-heater and the reflector. SAFETY NOTE: Do use more than a few drops of methyl hydrate on the preheater. Too much will overheat the lower windscreen and melt the perforated aluminum. This is a potential fire hazard and safety concern as you try to control the event. I fared OK, by the way.
