I have done research for the best beard trimmer and this by far is in the top three. #1-Its afforable #2-Trims hairs evenly #3-Comes with many attachments I bought one for myself and my son who is just starting to learn to groom his facial hair. The Braun Series 5 5480 is a perfect product for our use. I feel comfortable knowing its a Braun for this company has a high reputation.

After not shaving for a week to 10 days I was looking for a shaver to reduce my beard to something I could then use a traditional razor without clogging the razor after a single use. With 5 blade razors now costing $8 plus per blade, this two step process works great and cheaper in the long run. This Braun electric razor works great for this first step. I especially like the base attachment to do this first step. Wasn’t expecting that bonus feature. Don’t really need any of the other attachments. I’ve had good experiences with Braun shavers for decades with quickie shaves for work. So I felt comfortable buying a Braun razor for a new approach to shaving.

Okay this is an update, i spun the little gear thing inside of it and that seems to have made it turn back on again. It seems to be working pretty good now so I'm going to see how long this goes till.

Would have given a great rating until a piece of the trimmer broke in the middle of trimming and almost cut me. Poor build.

I bought it primarily for trimming my beard. I insert the trimmer head and then the beard comb per the instructions. I like to set it at 5mm. As I don't use it very often my beard gets a little long so as I am trimming, I need to stop every now and then to clean the beard hair out of the trimmer. I remove the comb, clean it, and when I put it back on for some reason the setting goes back to .1mm and if I don't notice it, it takes a nice big chunk out of beard. perhaps it is just me but I never had that problem with my old Philips trimmer. I think i will return it and get one that doesn't do that. Disappointed as Braun is generally high quality and on the expensive side.

Please help!! What charger adapter do I need to buy for this?? I bought a USA to Australia one today - it looks to be an American plug, but the one I bought doesn't fit into the adapter unit itself (not wide enough). Before I buy another one, please confirm if it is a USA plug adapter I need to be able to use this in Australia! Info online is very vague!!!!

This Braun Shaver surprises me. It don't pull your hair nor bite your skin and it perform just like my Braun shaver series 7. Excellent !. I was a bit apprehensive initially when I realized it's made in China and its quality might falter. Luckily it was a very good set. Don't regret buying it. Good price and excellent product.
