Joseph Joseph Helix Garlic Press, easy crush action, dishwasher safe - Green, 24

I love this thing. Seems like a ton of money for a plastic garlic press, but the twist design (compared to the usual garlic press design) is brilliant - very effective and easy to use. At the risk of sounding weak, I was finding my previous garlic press difficult because of the required hand strength, especially if the garlic was fresh (and therefore not soft). I have even previously snapped the handles off of a metal garlic press I had from pressing so hard. This is so effortless, and easy to clean. This one was a gift - I already had one in my kitchen and needed to share this useful gadget with a friend.

The xcrew press is light to use and it is easier and safer than a folding press. I think it would be usable by kids and people with weakness in arms or wrists. It is very sturdy and dishwasher safe. A handy feature is that, with the press empty and closed, you can press the top to burst the garlic clove skin, (see photo) which I've done with a knife up to now. This is better! Not difficult to clean but the basket is deep and there is no spiky press to push the remains out, like some have. It seems to leave more leftovers than others but not much. Very pleased with it. Buy it!

Ideal for people with 'gammy' hands - like my wife, for example. She has Dupuytrens syndrome, which means her fingers are distorted out of line and she can't use a 'normal' garlic crusher. I am told actor Bill Nighie has the same affliction, although I don't know how he gets on with garlic crushers. But let me not digress ... I have bought a lot of Joseph Jospeh stuff for her over the years and she loves it. This is no exception. So easy to use and clean. And at what I consider a fair price, too. Nice one.

So I ordered this without really looking at the reviews, Joseph Joseph products are usually pretty good and I needed a new garlic press as my existing one was terrible. I read some reviews after I ordered it and was slightly put off by some of the bad ones. Don’t listen to the bad reviews, this garlic press is great - definitely the best one I’ve had (and I’ve had a few). You can get a number of garlic cloves in it so you don’t have to operate it as many times as usual if you’re using a lot, which I generally do. Figuring out how to actually use it first time is probably the only down side but when you’ve got it you’ve got it, that’ll only happen once. The mechanism is really effective and prevents garlic from squishing back out of the top of the press which virtually every press I’ve had before has done. Yes, 100% of the garlic isn’t pressed through and a very small amount is left after each operation, but no big deal. It’s not difficult to clean out after, I use the handle end of a teaspoon to scrape any remnants of a garlic out of the device, then straight in the dishwasher. Job done.

Best garlic press that I've ever owned!

I don't review often but felt had to give one this time. Although slightly more expensive than some presses it is the best we have ever used! Very easy to use, garlic easily gathered with little or no waste, meaning tool easy to clean. Thoroughly recommend this garlic press.

Not effective, not practical. Was broken after few days.

After reading reviews of other brands, I decided to get this one. The twisting mechanism is much better than other brands which parts are easily broken or snapped when you apply force to squeeze the garlic. The colour, design and material of Joseph Joseph are all good. Used three times so far. Hope it will last.

I love garlic more than life itself! I cook with it daily! I put it on or in EVERYTHING (be careful eating the chocolate cake at my house). :) So, I've gone through a LOT of different garlic presses over the years. Seriously, a LOT of them! I've tried nearly every design on the market. So, don't take this lightly: This is easily THE BEST GARLIC PRESS I have EVER used! It's easy to use. You can crush a LOT of cloves at once. It is easy to clean! It (so far) is very durable! This product is a WINNER! And, coming from me, that's a real endorsement!

I have used it on occasion but it much sturdier than other garlic presses I have used in the past. You just need to pay attention to the dots so that you know which way to turn the press. I am excited to use fresh garlic in my food again.
