From award-winning author Sara Pennypacker comes the long-awaited sequel to Pax ; this is a gorgeously crafted, utterly compelling novel about chosen families and the healing power of love. A New York Times bestseller! Itโs been a year since Peter and his pet fox, Pax, have seen each other. Once inseparable, they now lead very different lives. Pax and his mate, Bristle, have welcomed a litter of kits they must protect in a dangerous world. Meanwhile Peterโnewly orphaned after the war, racked with guilt and lonelinessโleaves his adopted home with Vola to join the Water Warriors, a group of people determined to heal the land from the scars of the war. When one of Pax's kits falls desperately ill, he turns to the one human he knows he can trust. And no matter how hard Peter tries to harden his broken heart, love keeps finding a way in. Now both boy and fox find themselves on journeys toward home, healingโand each other, once again. As he did for Pax , Jon Klassen, New York Times bestseller, Caldecott medalist, and two-time Caldecott Honoree, has created stunning jacket and interior illustrations. Lovely, gentle read
Before my review, a warning about 'Pax, Journey Home' โ donโt read the blurb! A huge chunk of what is mentioned in the blurb happens in the last twenty pages of the book, and I would have loved to discover it through the book rather than before I started reading! 'Pax, Journey Home' is the story of a boy and a fox, both of whom have suffered immense losses. The boy Peter is determined never to love again, never to find family and never to get attached. The fox Pax, on the other hand, is quick to forgive and quick to make friends. As the story unfolds, we walk two parallel journeys of healing. Pax and Peter walk side by side, never meeting, but forever aware of each other. And in their own ways, they trust, love, and find home. I loved the gentleness of the story, the aching love and the inevitability of letting your heart go out to another being. Try as he might, Peter cannot build barriers around his heart. And Pax emerges as a wonderfully tender character, full of love and light. The physical journeys the characters take mirror their emotional journeys from grief to healing, from sorrow to peace. And the bond between a child and an animal? Itโs always special. Treading carefully through big emotions, Pax, Journey Home is a lovely, slow read.

Beautiful story
What a great book, or should I books including โPaxโ. A beautiful story with some strong messages. The fox research and story that went into this outstanding. Definitely read both books.

Better than the first
This book tied up the loose ends left behind by the first book quite nicely. It was poignantly written with a hopeful feeling throughout The story to showcase the meaning of the phrase , the only way out is through. And it' s a reminder that we all need to be braver when life gets challenging in hopes that things get better at the other end.
