Prestige 16cm Stainless Steel Saucepan
This is a beautiful gleaming piece of cookware with a see-through glass lid and well insulated handle. It feels pretty solid too. It replaced an old aluminium Teflon saucepan which had flaked off chunks of its non-stick coating exposing potentially harmful aluminium. I didn't want another non-stick aluminium pan as there's been some controversy over the years as to whether this sort of cookware is really safe. Stainless steel pans are acknowledged to be much safer health wise. They are also known to last many years longer than aluminium ones if looked after.I bought this specifically to boil or steam vegetables and make soups. But you can equally scramble or fry eggs or steak in this as well. I did find that the pan was a little slower to heat up than my old aluminium one to bring my vegetables to the boil. But once there the pan retains heat for longer, so I could turn off my electric hob for at least 5 minutes of cooking. Washing up is quick and simple. Overall a decent quality saucepan.

Prestige saucepan
I was very pleased with this saucepan. It is deeper than others I own which is what I wanted as I was fed up of things overflowing on the hob. It feels strong and sturdy, unlikely to dent if dropped. The finish is smooth and easy to clean. If you are looking for a large pan and don't want to buy a set this is ideal.

Excellent Saucepan - shame about the lid
Buying a new saucepan is usually a pretty daunting experience for me – I have forked out big money for some absolute disasters. And then there are the lovely non stick ones I’ve had ruined by my husband’s obsession with metal utensils…Anyway, at first glance with this one I have to say, I’m pretty impressed. Looks good. Bottom appears flat. Handle is insulated, and arched high so is away from the heat source. Nice solid weight. (I should mention that if you have carpal tunnel or similar, you may struggle with the weight of this pan.)Okay, now onto the downside – and it’s a bit of a doozie. I bought this pan partially because of the glass lid, so I could keep an eye on what I was cooking. Unfortunately, there is no vent hole in the lid, so it just steams up and becomes opaque. Oh dear. Not what I would’ve expected at this price.Best Uses : Boiling eggs, noodles, rice, pasta or for cooking anything that doesn’t stick.Pros : Looks good. Decent handle. Dishwasher safe. Flat bottom.Cons : The lid! Possibly too heavy for some.In Summary : Excellent saucepan – shame about the lid. I have rated this on the generous side at 4 stars, but I would actually class it as 3.5 stars.

Excellent Saucepan
This is a really good, heavy saucepan, delightful to use and after 6 weeks nothing has stuck to the bottom or burnt. The capacity is 2.8 ltr, measures about 18-19cm across and 12cm high. It is quite a deep saucepan which is nice because even if you give the cooking a really good stir, it all stays within the saucepan! Glass lid makes easy viewing of what is being cooked. Would recommend to anyone.

Rusting internally after a few uses. Not now recommended.
A solid stainless steel saucepan in a much-used size. The "Prestige Create Stainless Steel 16 cm Saucepan - Silver" is from an established brand and their wares have always offered good quality without carrying a high price. One, in stainless steel but with a non-stick coating, was obtained a few months ago and given excellent service ever since in various roles. Previous saucepans and fryers from Prestige gave excellent, long service; two aluminium pans, one originally owned by my mother the other by an aunt for many years and then another 20 or more years in my home and only recently retired when the bases became too thin with one actually leaking; this was also expected to last many years. This has proven to be a notable failure, although not on first use. From the second use to the final third or fourth use, an increasing number of small rust pits have appeared as a ring across the bottom on the inside at the base, but none yet around the side. There were two or three tiny spots initially, about 12-15 slightly larger ones next time and now about 100 with some larger than a small fingernail! The quality of steel used has to be questioned. This was reported to Amazon who arranged a refund and suggested that it not be used - that decision had previously been made and it will now be discarded .
