LEZYNE Composite Matrix Handlebar Mount

So here's the thing: I almost returned this thing because it was immediately noticeable how much bigger it is than my other two mounts for my Lezyne superdrive XL from a few years ago. Not just the overall physical size either, but even the "receiver" part that the light slides into was measurably wider. I went ahead and opened the package though just to try it out and it does actually fit. The light is a little loose in the wider mount but is sufficiently secure that I'm not worried about it falling out. So why only 3 stars? Because this mount is just tooooo biiiiig!!!!! Even the original mount was poorly conceived. The adjustment knob interferes with the cables where they exit from under your bar tape. You basically have to force the cables out of the way which isn't ideal and it also makes the knob very difficult to adjust. Now they go and make the mount even bigger? Seriousy!!!???!!! I really like the light itself but this mount is a major drawback to the system and would not recommend it to anyone who has a modern drop bar road bike where the cables are routed under the bar tape. 9 speed bikes work ok because they only have one cable under the tape but 10 or 11 speed bikes are not ideal. Unfortunately if you have a light that requires this type of mount then you don't really have much of a choice.

This design actually works. I HAD to buy this because the mount that was included with the light was poorly designed.

I have the aluminum mount on my touring bike and used this one on my mountain bike. It's light weight and goes on easily, seems durable so far. I'd still recommend the aluminum one over this if cost isn't a factor.

We had to buy a longer screw to attach it to the handlebars on my road bike. The original holder that came with the light fit fine.

This will not work with the megadrive unless you sand down some excess plastic.
