Recently I used the heated windowsill propagator and within a few days the tiny seedlings have emerged. When I use this I check the seedlings every day to make sure the vents are open, when the condensation forms on the covers I remove these and dry them off and air the covers for a few hours, if you don't do this the seeds end up rotting away. The concept of a propagator is to give your seeds a boost indoors as the temperature outdoors isn't warm enough due to soil conditions and I found my clay soil takes longer to warm up, spring temperature's are only starting to climb now. Since my propagator is east facing, it doesn't get a lot of light, when the seedlings emerge I turn the seed trays around as the plant is searching for more light to grow. Once they are big enough I pot them up and they are put into in a sheltered pop up greenhouse with inner fleece as night temperatures have dropped recently I put the seedings out during the day to give them more sunlight in a sheltered area from the wind in an area in the garden and this has helped to grow . I have used the easy grow since February of 2021 and I've had a lot of success with it. Hopefully this has answered your question putting the easy grow into direct sunlight will not help your seeds if you can imagine how warm it is from direct sunlight through glass into the unit, it's like being in a very hot oven and not ideal conditions for seeds to grow in since they need a little sun to grow, air, water and oxygen to thrive. **Q: What size are the bays exactly?** A: The bays are approximately 22 x 18 x 12.5 cm in size. **Q: Is this safe in leave on indoors overnight** A: I leave it on all the time to germinate the seeds..It is a very low heat **Q: Do you have to use the black tray? Or can the propagators be set straight into the green heated tray** A: Yes,you do need to use the black tray as that is what the three lidded trays sit on . The water goes in the green heated tray and the the black plastic tray fits in next with the capillary mat. Lead is just long enough to reach from my window sill to the plug socket but worth checking the length before you buy.Doesn't feel especially warm to touch but the condensation tells me that it's working. Soil temp is definitely good for germination. Capillary matting is keeping soil very moist.Overall extremely pleased and considering buying another.
