LEGO 21110 Research Institute - Women in Science

As much as I hate paying over rrp for anything the joy this gave my biomedical scientist wife was worth every penny. Would be great for any girl or lady with a science love or background

Great set at a great price.

My 4 year old grand-daughter loves this - one of the few, but hopefully growing number, of lego sets with female characters who have professional/active roles in the lego world. It does make a difference for young girls to see this in their toys.

Perhaps not the biggest set for the price, but it is a collector's item and it means more than other Lego sets. Got to love the dinosaur skeleton!

Very good kit, and lovely attention to detail but a bit pricey compared to build time and number of pieces even for an ideas set.

Absolutely brilliant. My daughter noticed straight away that it was 3 female figures doing highly academic roles.

Wish Lego did more products like this showing women in positive roles - ridiculous that it is limited edition

Love the attention to detail and, of course, the idea of women in science but do think it's quite pricey for what you actually get

LOVE THIS. LEGO female scientists characters and backgrounds!!! A fantastic way to acknowledge and encourage girls in science. Unfortunately, this was a limited run product for LEGO and, not surprisingly, it sold out almost instantly. I had been searching for it for months. Here is the description from the LEGO site: The Research Institute has everything that you need to explore the world below, around and above us! Created by real-life geoscientist, Ellen Kooijman (alias:Alatariel), and selected by LEGO® Ideas members (formerly known as CUUSOO), this collection of scenes depicts three varied professions within the world of natural science. Help the paleontologist study the origin of dinosaurs with the magnifying glass, map the skies with the astronomer and her telescope, and assist the chemist as she carries out experiments in her lab. This set also includes building instructions, as well as a booklet containing information about the creator and an introduction to each of the professions featured in the set. There’s a whole world of exciting professions out there to explore – build and role play them to see if they suit you! Includes 3 minifigures: paleontologist, astronomer and a chemist.” What the description pointedly does not say is the minifigures are women. It is a fantastic product but, as I said, it immediately sold out and never continued. I find this so very odd. Again from LEGO’s site: “This set was overwhelmingly popular and is no longer available for purchase.” But, but… if it was overwhelmingly popular…why not continue it? All this being said. Grab one for your daughter before Amazon runs out!!!!

This is an awesome product to play with your daughter, truly amazing, even I got challenged with the dinosaur and we all are enjoying the scientific view it provides to us all, lots of fun!
