Excellent Weight and Performance
Aside from the quality and reliability of Makita brand, the portability, weight, design, and performance of this product is truly astounding! I used a knockoff 18V 8.0mah battery to power this product and it cut small trees and branches like a hot knife through butter. Iโm loving this tool!

Amazing, light weight, nimble, agressive and cleverly refined. The perfect on handed saw

Another excellent Makita tool
I bought this to replace an M18 one-handed sawzall and I don't regret it one bit. Powerful and very comfortable to use. The blade release mechanism is much nicer to use. Well worth the price.

Great for Pruning Trees and Shrubs
Got tire of using hand saw for shrub and tree branches and then having to cu down to size for disposal. Tool is nice and light (able to use one handed) and made quick work of my landscaping. Worked right out of box able to use same battery as my Makita drill. VERY HAPPY!

A solid performer
At nearly 200 bucks this thing is probably overpriced, but the convenience and performance this tool furnishes probably makes it worth it. As a purpose-built one-handed recipro saw it is not as powerful as its bigger brothers, but if you purchase the right trim blades (make sure they are ultra sharp) your yard's annoying trees will not stand a chance. I have used this tool in professional settings and it has performed splendidly each time. A 5 amp battery will consistently last 30-45 minutes, the 6 amp batteries provide perhaps another 5-10 minutes. If your branches are 8 inches in diameter or less, give this one a shot; you definitely won't be disappointed, and you may end up impressed.

4.4 lbs not 1 lb, but this is an amazing saw and I'm a small, senior woman
I love this saw so much...I needed to get rid of an old picnic table in my backyard.I tried a cordless Dewalt reciprocating saw and and a Makita 5-3/8 cordless circular saw to dismantle the picnic table and neither would cut through the wood. So, I bought this Makita saw and used a Diablo pruning saw and I was finally able to make some progress. The vibration is minimal too which helped a lot.I originally bought this saw because the description said it only weighed 1 lb but it actually weighs 4.4 lbs according to my scale. But it was easy to use because the handle is slim and it is not bulky with low vibration.I am 70, petite in height and weight and this is a blessing...so thank you Makita!

My new favorite tool
This thing is just really handy. Basically, it's a powered jab saw, except it cuts wood and metal instead of drywall and it doesn't plunge. Much handier than a regular repo saw, and easier and safer than trying to use one one-handed. With a 5ah battery the balance is good.Someone mentioned that the foot didn't have much adjustment, but to me it's fine. I don't want a foot that's going to wobble around too much or worse, fall off. This one doesn't move much but it's not coming off. This isn't a precision woodworking tool...it's for construction or demo, or just when you need a one handed saw, and for all of those things it's very handy.
