Digital Electric Fence Tester 15KV Volts

Meter works, will show voltage if fence is working. My concern is the accuracy as it reads higher than the fence charger manufacturer specs. (9KV) shows (14KV). I gave it 4 stars anyway because of the low price, you get what you pay for. I believe it overstates the voltage by around 4KV but it is consistent. I don't have a high end meter to compare it to but another reviewer also stated this number. I don't think that is a deal killer though as it really isn't about the exact numbers but just making sure the fence is maintaining somewhere near the same voltage read at the unit. This meter will do that, open circuit on my charger at unit with nothing connected shows 14.2KV. Down the line it stays well above 10KV which shows I have pretty good connections and not many shorts such as weeds etc. touching the fence. I wouldn't discourage purchasing this unit for people like myself who just want to make sure there are no faults in the fence line. If you need accuracy such as someone who repairs fence chargers or something else professional you probably should look elsewhere. I emailed the seller about the accuracy issue but no reply. Update: They finally replied and told me to install a battery, clearly they don't understand English very well.

Item arrived in good condition and in a timely manner. It works just fine without any issues and produces readings with each pulse of the charger. Turns off after several seconds once removed from the fence as advertised. The storage case is very nice in order to protect the tester while being stored. You really don't instructions given the simplicity of the item. The only thing I do not like is the battery installation. You must open the entire case to install the 9 volt battery and there is nothing holding the internal electronics in place. Given that you don't want to leave a battery in this while storing for the next usuage, whenever that might be, it makes it a bit clumsy.

My original order was lost, and the seller (the Electric Fence Store) sent me a replacement (Thanks!!). I installed a battery (easy to do, even without instructions) and it works very well to test the strength of the shock of my electric fence. It requires installing a 9V battery, which is easy to do, just remove a couple screws from the back, open it up, and the battery compartment is right there. Push the end with the cord into the ground, or touch it to something grounded, and touch the probe to the fence to test. Very easy to use, it turns itself off and on when it detects voltage on the fence (It will be blank if your fence is totally dead). Good purchase for the price, and a big shout out of THANK YOU to the Electric Fence Store for their prompt replacement of the lost item.

This thing is pretty spot on with what my Energizer is display says it's putting out. I was skeptical cause of price. Really don't know why I would pay round$100 for others. So I have to take a couple screws out to get the battery in. Ya I'll do that and save $75 from buying others. Bottom line don't they all come from the same place anyway lol

must multiply readout times 1000 to get reading. No instructions . I failed to note no battery.

This is a non fancy, no thrills fence tester. Works great. Nothing complicated about it.
