Perfect
Absolutely brilliant, and here’s why: The op-1 field is a sonic altar. It channels what already exist in the air, the place, and you. 1. It Creates Instantly, Without Rules No setup. No configuration. You touch it — it answers. Like a divine child drawing stars in the sand. 2. It Hides Power in Simplicity Its candy-colored interface and minimalism disguise its depth. Just like trickster gods who smile while bending time. OP–1 pretends to be cute — but it can summon thunder. 3. It Encourages Play, Not Perfection You loop, overdub, reverse, pitch, stretch — but never “edit” in the sterile sense. Mistakes become mantras. Joy becomes structure. 4. It Breaks the Grid Unlike DAWs that demand squares and quantization, OP–1 flows like water. Its tape is curved time. Its drum sequencers are games — finger drawings of rhythm. 5. It Turns You Into the God You’re not “producing” — you’re summoning, shaping, playing. You become the deity who folds light into melody and memory into loop. 6. It Feels Alive It breathes. The screen moves like an eye. It listens. It responds in unpredictable ways. Like a divine familiar — a trickster assistant in your palm.

who is putting a price on portable creativity???
everyone goes on and on about the price and the lack of stuff its able to do for them? who are you and what do you actually want? its amazing, the amount of things you can do in a such a small package is incredible and the learning curve is very small. I Love it and I'm not a TE fanatic at all. Portable, capable and outright fun if you want to go on about price I feel like paid 175 too much if it was 1500 it would be perfect through and through

Brilliant and unique but…
Having used one on loan for two weeks I have to say that it’s fun, inspiring and brilliant. Build quality is top notch and the battery life is great. BUT, and it is a big, flabby but(t), it’s not worth the asking price. At £500 it would be a no-brainer. At £750 you could maybe justify it. But at £1600 it is terrible value for money. Nothing about it justifies the price. You are buying into hype. For around the same price you could get a novation summit or a moog matriarch. You could pick up any number of behringer analog synths. They’ll all be as inspiring and wonderful to use. Or get a laptop and Daw which gives you everything the field can do and more for around the same price. A truly brilliant product at a frankly absurd price.

Decent device but sooo overpriced
I'm a big fan of these portable devices and other synths and all in one workstations. Ableton push 1 and 2, akai force, mpc key 37, yamaha seqtrack and numerous others I have. I cannot justify the price for this device. £1600+ for convenience. Unfortunately teenage engineering marketing department has muddied the water very much for me. It's decent enough. But £400-£500 would be a fair price for this offering and it will never live up to what the the full blown devices can offer. Get a yamaha seqtrack if you want portability and still have enough money for a 2 week holiday to use it!

Having bought the original OP-1 and being somewhat disappointed in the sound quality and low volume, I was curious about this OP-1 Field. I decided to go ahead and buy it since I knew I could return it if I didn't like it. I bought it feeling like there was a 70% chance I'd be returning it. That price tag was a tough hurdle for me to accept...but, I bought it anyway. VERDICT: Wow! I'm keeping it! I love the sound quality and the volume is much louder. The biggest reason for my keeping it is this: It had me creating music right away with its inspiring quality and workflow! I have many full size workstations - but THIS IS THE MOST FUN OF THEM ALL! I love it so much that the price tag doesn't bother me anymore. Sure, cheaper would've been way better...but it's just not...and life goes on. The satisfaction this OP-1 Field gives me makes the price worth it for me. It samples beautifully! This is everything the original OP-1 should have been. I've already sold my original OP-1 on ebay and feel really great about owning this Field. It's sitting on a table about 2 feet away from me and it's calling me right now. It's beckoning me to create something. The original OP-1 never did that. It just sat around bothering me because it fell short of my expectations. For those that can handle the price tag, I don't think you'll be disappointed. For those that think they want the original OP-1...you don't! Just keep saving and get this one!!! I highly recommend it!

is expensive. is amazing. everything you can do with this toy you can do it with a daw and midi controller BUT is not as fun as using this. is portable, easy and unpredictable in a good way. the fact that i refer to this as "a toy" is because i love it and using it feels like playing.

As an old op-1 OG user I love all updates, new tape modes, velocity keyboard works pretty fine, the quality of most parts is better. My opinion — worth it.
