I bought this as a bare tool as I have batteries for the range. With two 5 batteries, I keep going for an hour at full tilt, I would recommend the larger batteries for good clearance. Used between 2 ½ -5 hours a week. Each 5.0AH battery gives you around 30 mins, although power/cutting ability does obviously reduce as the battery life is depleting. Whilst lightweight and easy to use, I would still recommend a decent, properly fitting harness to avoid shoulder injury. The strimmer cable is easily replaced (so don’t be fooled into thinking you need to buy the replacement RAC 114 spool). You do have to manually feed more strimmer cable though (none of this ‘tap gently on the ground malarky’ here, which is a bit annoying). The brushcutter blade is more than adequate for domestic use (brambles etc) but you won’t be cutting down saplings or anything with it. Initially, I preferred the blade but ultimately, preferred the strimmer aspect which still coped well with brambles etc. Ryobi don’t cover the warranty if bought on desertcart (‘bought out warranty’). desertcart were however, more than fair and whilst they wouldn’t replace the item, they did refund in full, so no complaints from me. Whilst I would have happily accepted a replacement, continually charging the batteries did become a pain and so I opted for a petrol replacement model.
