Works well with aluminum evaporator coils
My evaporator coil on my 3-ton air handler unit had a pin hole leak. The leak was on one of the 6 distribution tubes are the expansion device. I had given another "aluminum braze rod" from Home Depot a try, but it failed to seal the leak. I decided to give Aluma braze a try and I was very impressed. I used a propane torch to gentle heat up the aluminum tube and the braze went on like glue. I was very impressed with it. Would highly recommend to anyone trying to fix aluminum coils.

Fixed leak in micro channel coil
I was able to soldier up screw hole in lennox commercial condenser coil. So far the best aluminum soldier I have used. Tried 3 other products with no success. Second choice is benzomatic aluminum soldier. Went thru 4 rods with no luck. Tiny leak remained. Used Mapp gas. Heat until it went liquid and sealed to screw hole. Held back 410a refrigerant in a micro channel coil.

Works on old AC lines
As part of a retrofit job, I used this brazing rod to add a #10 nut to a used and very old R12 automotive AC line. I'm not sure if brazing rod was the best choice but I decided on it because I know it's a stronger bond compared to the lower temp aluminum soldering rods. Plus this rod has a flux core which seems to be very important for capillary action. I would have just tig welded it but I read that tig welding old R12 lines is problematic and results in having pin holes. Not sure if that's true but I didn't want to chance it. Some areas of the joint look a bit bumpy/porous, not sure if that's normal since this is the first time I've done this. I pressure tested it and found no leaks. I'm not able to test it at operating pressure since this is the high side line but I expect it'll be fine. I'll do an update once I get the system operating.
