Clarke MIG130EN 240V 130A Turbo Mig Welder

I have owned this and I have to for the price its shocking £274 and pretty much the same Pros It makes decent beads Is a transformer so will last a long time Cons Plastic wire feed Poor duty cycle Very cheaply made gun No euro torch fitting Beyond expensive parts Disposalble gas bottle regulated Conclusion its cost way to much all your paying for is a Clarke badge it disposable bottles last 5 min and are expensive I paid £30 for a x full gas bottle that will last hours it will cost you £40 to get this machine to run proper gas bottles for the regulated and conviction kit I now have an r tech mig 180 £410 its duty cycle is 35% at 180amps it will find of a standard house/garage standard plug up two 160amp it comes with a 2 year back to base warrant and for eg a mig gin replacement for this witch is fixed £70 one for the rtech euro torch that £30 that just plugs in and out allowing you to story your welder inside and leaves the torch and earth lead in the garage bottom line if your new to mig welding but are serious by the r tech it will save you a lot of messing as it is a professional machine the problem with hobby machines is there to fiddly but aimed at diyers witch is stupid you can also get 0% at rtech for 12 months

I am very pleased with this welder. I am a beginner at Mig welding. My advise to anybody buying this welder is to switch to Gas as soon as the flux core reel is used up. The fluxed core welding was erratic hot and difficult to manage on thin wall tubing. Once I switched to Gas (Co2) and gas reel; the welding was much easier to control, like night and day. I would never go back to fluxed core again.

I have used various different welders before and this one is great, it works as it should and produces decent welds, I recommend that you convert it to gas though, as the welds you then get are far superior and splatter free.

After facing a prohibitive bill for replacing the gas bottle on my current welder i decided to buy a No-gas welder. I had read reports that the Clarke MIG130EN was best in class for up to 130 amps and that influenced my decision to buy. It certainly lives up to it's reputation. The build quality is excellent. I have used it only a couple of times, so far, but I am very pleased with the results. No-gas welding is slightly more difficult than that of gas MIG welding but I was prepared for that. I would have no hesitation in recommending this welder for the DIYer or for a light fabrications workshop.
