Quality quality product
I bought this for my retired parents for christmas and they are blown away by how easy it is to use and the quality of the product. It takes a few minutes to set up kodi, look it up on you tube. Although maybe some literature about setting this up would have been nice in the box. My mum especially found the gyro mouse in the controller very useful and my dad really liked the qwerty keyboard built in the back of the remote, handy for quick searching. It is a robustly built unit with a very good built in wifi receiver. I'd recommend this unit to any one seeking to buy a multi media box. But make sure you purchase it from minix them self's so you don't get a cheap remote with it ( the smaller remote came packaged within the box as well, although not mentioned in the product description ). A very satisfied family. Thank you minix.

REVIEW: MINIX NEO U1 & MINIX NEO A2 Lite
First off, I'd like to point out this is my 2nd purchase of this product.I have been looking for a streaming solution for two areas of my house, namely my front room and bedroom. Using an 8Tb NAS (Network Attached Storage) attached to my router via LAN cable, I am able to stream any of my video, pictures and music files around my house. I was using Kodi as my main video streaming application and therefore I am well versed with the application. I was very impressed with the fact that MINIX's own internal development team build's it's own proprietary version of XBMC based on JARVIS currently with new versions ie KRYPTON created in the future. Because MINIX creates it's own development of XMBC, the application is solid and I can confirm is bug free at the time of writing this review. The OS is currently Lollipop with future upgrades on the horizon to move to either Marshmallow or Nougat as the team feel fit. Regardless of the OS being an older OS, it is bug free and runs anything I have been able to install and use. Kodi/XMBC has no issues at all due to internal development of the OS and XMBC itself, a very important consideration when buying a new Android TV Box.The Updates and features are based on both development team and Community based requests. This means, unlike other manufacturers, allows direct interaction with it's customer base by leaving feedback via its dedicated forum. The quality of the box is solid and made of plastic, this isn't a problem compared to the equivalent of MS Windows based boxes that use INTEL processors which tend to overheat. The overall design is modern in its design and looks great as pat of anyone's other audio visual equipment. The remote is great, but not perfect in the sense that it's missing a few buttons dedicated to using Kodi such as STOP, PLAY, PAUSE etc. But the main remote for operating the box itself it great especially with the keyboard on the back to fill in search fields/boxes etc.Overall, the box excels in what it does. The specs are great, the OS is bug free with OTA (Over The Air) updates as they are released, a powerful 64Bit CPU to power through games and game streaming, its own dedicated version of XMBC (Kodi) again bug free, community based support and communication direct to the development team is 2nd to none.Once this box moves to Marshmallow or Nougat in the future, will ultimately open this box up as the one to beat as the extension of internal storage via internal SD card will place this box at the top of peoples buying lists.I was so impressed with my first one, I bought a 2nd box for the bedroom too. If anyone wishes to ask any questions, please feel free.

So good I bought a second.
Purchased this on the off chance, I was after a second box for another room after previously using a fire stick I realised quickly I needed too also replace the fire stick with one of these so I bought another. I was happy with the firestick until I bought these. Wow what a difference they are quick simple to set up, small, great build quality. This is a fantastic device and used for kodi it is second to none. No lag, no sound sync issues urtra quick search times. Fantastic picture quality the list goes on. Can also be used as a mini PC sharing pictures from sub hhd drives and the like.If you are looking for a media centre you have found the best in the business. Minix offer great products the A2 remote is also fantastic.

I am amazed at how strong the wi-fi is
I am amazed at how strong the wi-fi is, my router is upstairs, been using this device for downstairs living room and when streaming I get no buffering or lag so I am really impressed, very simple to set up and use, the remote looks beautiful, feels nice in the hand but very annoying with air mouse because as soon as you press ok it does not perform as an air mouse anymore so you have to keep pressing air mouse function after you press the ok button. It looks smaller than anticipated with a very long and wide antenna. The box looks beautiful I love the blue LED light when it is switched on, not distracting and it has a red LED light when it is in standby mode , love the Minix Logo on top of the box, my other reason why I won't give it full marks is because I can't locate where to clean the cache especially when I am streaming a apk out of kodi. Also I am worried how long this device will last because Kodi keeps changing and upgrading and this box doesn't, so far I am using Kodi 17.4 Krypton and I am worried with the next kodi upgrade this device will be obsolete, the Customer Service with this device is basically non existent and its not upgradebable so if Minix could sort that out it will be a close contender to the Nvidia Shield. I would advice anybody thinking of getting this to buy the Minix Neo U9 instead.

Overpriced
I thought this would be more powerful than my old, cheap Android box. It's not. Won't play 4K video files without stuttering. Buy something cheaper

Spend the money and get a great Android TV box
This is my second android tv box. The first one I bought was one of those cheap android boxes with a really dodgy interface and which suffered constant reboots. It was a terrible thing.Anyway, the Minix box is exactly how I imagined an Android TV box should work. It is pretty fast, very stable, has a pretty good user interface and all the apps I have tried work fine with the exception of Plex which has a sound problem. I managed to overcome this by using the built in android video player instead of the one built into Plex. Otherwise Spotify, Google Music and Netflix work a treat. (I'll admit that the Netflix UI on the Apple TV is still better than the one for Minix but I can live with that)There seems to be regular software updates as well. (2 in the last month) My old android box was never updated in a whole year. The Minix box is money well spent.

Excellent Android TV box and remote
Fantastic Android TV box.Very stable and is extremely optimized for video streaming.Build quality is excellent and the box runs very cool.A customized version of KODI is preloaded and the MINIX interface is simple and clean. The A2 remote is an absolute joy to use. It's a remote, a keyboard and a mouse all in one and so is well worth the little extra over the NEO U1 alone.

Excellent HTPC
I bought this to use as a HTPC running Kodi and I couldnt be happier. It performs well with all the videos I have used it for and both remotes included in this package give me an easy option to use day to day and the A2 lite works for when I need to use a keyboard/mouse very well.

Doesnt work well with Windows network
This is my first Android box so I have nothing to compare to. This unit comes loaded with many apps, some of which are useful. They have their own version of XBMC which works mostly. My needs were pretty specific, I needed the unit to work with my Windows 7 PC and network but it doesnt reliably connect to my network. I just wanted the XBMC app to connect to my PC and establish a connection to the content stored on my PC. It wont do that reliably. One time it connects, the next time it wont. Ive had the unit for about a month and have spent a lot of time trying to get it to work reliably with my Windows network and it just wont. Ive become a member of this products manufacturer forum and the help there has been limited. It was suggested that I do a factory reset after experiencing problems. I thought maybe I had asked it to do too much as I had scanned my library (the best I could) installed some Kodi addons, and even installed some Android games, so I thought I might have loaded it too much. So I did a factory reset and only connected to my "Movies" folder on my PC, which worked...yay! Then I tried to connect to my "TV Series" folder and it couldnt find my network....boo.I dont know if it is this unit or Androids in general, or even that Windows 7 networks are too difficult to reliably connect to (they are) but whatever the problem, this unit will not reliably connect to my W7 network. I give it three stars because it does everything else its supposed to, just not what I need it to.

so far so good. I would have to agree with some of ...
so far so good. I would have to agree with some of the reviews that this is not necessarily a beginner android device, but that is by no means a knock against the product. Much of the preloaded software would be perfectly fine for most individuals... It did require some manual tweaking to get it where I wanted it,which included fully reinstalling kodi, since the included xbmc would lock-up anytime I tried to install a wizard to it.I purchased this to replace an s912 octacore unit that I returned because I was not happy with the clunky interface...and I must say, it's easily noticeably faster even just being a quad-core. Also worth noting, the A2 Lite remote is the best thing since sliced bread. No issues using the mouse as some others have indicated in their reviews. The keyboard makes searching and entering passwords much better than just using a remote alone.
