However, it certainly looks the part and appears to be professional-quality stainless steel of good construction and big enough for a beef, leg of lamb or large chicken roast. It's certainly better than the much smaller aluminium version that I used to have and more convenient than using aluminium foil, and without the disadvantages that aluminium can bring to long-term health. In my opinion a good price for a useful kitchen tool that should last a lifetime. Will post a future update following use. UPDATE 6 JUNE 15 Have just cooked my first leg of lamb in this roaster. No faffing about with extra-wide aluminium foil that is invariably too small no matter how much you pull off the roll, causing unexpected gaps allowing juices to evaporate and escape into the oven, coating the inside of the oven with grease, and affecting the quality of the finished dish. Also no chance of the sharp leg bone puncturing foil because the plastic 'guard' (can't remember the technical term) has fallen off or has melted, thus allowing ALL of the juices to escape and causing the equivalent of an oven oilspill requiring a serious and lengthy clean-up operation (and worst of all --- no gravy!) And no more concern about the health effects of using aluminium for cooking. Having got past the moaning about the past, this roaster is a joy to use. It's a good size, feels very sturdy and 'seems right for the job'. It's also very easy to clean afterwards. I'll admit that the lambleg was slightly overcooked because of my cautiousness and not being used to this particular item, but it was still very good lamb, along with the plentiful gravy produced using the retained juices. I'll get it spot on next time. One of the best pieces of kitchen equipment that I've ever bought. I would buy another but I suspect that I'll never need to. Review: Thermic Roaster - Perfect for Induction Cookers - Induction hobs are great but you need to buy the right cookware. This Thermic Roaster is perfect. It does everything the other roasters do; great roasts, self-basting, keeps the juices in so you get great gravy and the grill keeps your food out of all the fluids in the bottom of the pot and best of all, it keeps your oven clean. BUT, the important bit for induction hobs, you can use it on the hob too. Fabulous as now you can keep your gravy hot and available while the meat is resting. Design-wise you can't go wrong; it looks a bit odd with off-set handles but when you use it in the oven you discover that they are exactly where you want them for good balance and ease of use. What would I like? To be able to buy a bigger one; you can get a good sized roast in it, but there are bigger non thermic ones available - ideal for celebration meals when this one might be a little small. Problems encountered so far, only the one. I haven't worked out how to get great crackling on roast pork, it tends to come out chewy rather than crunchy. Could i cook an extra large chicken in it height wise as well as the length** A: The inside dimensions of the tin are 160mm deep (bottom to underside of lid), 360mm long and 250mm wide. Hope that is of some help. **Q: Is it better to roast turkey with lid on or off in the pan?** A: I agree with answers 1 and 3, i.e. lid on for most of the cooking time then off to brown, although I haven't cooked a turkey or chicken in this yet.. It must be a small turkey if you expect it to fit in this roaster with the lid on --- you might need to use aluminium foil for a larger bird. **Q: Would I be able to cook a 15lb/7kg Turkey in this.?** A: I don't think you would.
