In trying to keep this short, a test patch is highly recommended regardless of the brand. Ideally it should be placed in an area the tattoo will cover. Most recommend 15-20 minutes, however it can take 12-48 hours for a reaction to occur. Some areas are more prone to irritation due to natural friction, e.g. ditch tattoos. A lot of people tend to believe it’s an allergic reaction instead of irritation from friction.
