A good reissue but is it deluxe??
First off its nice to have a modern pressing/s that plays back well and a pretty one at that in its clear pinky fuschia esque marbled transparant style. Side 1, 3 and 4 are near silent and side 2 just has some light infrequent noises that would be nice not to have, but y'know. Disc 2 is also really quite warped with disc 1 being slightly so but mercifully they are centre'd and dont cause pitch shifts so playback remains fine. As for the SQ I think it is well mastered as theres nothing nasty or unpleasant even if its not exactly an audiophile demo disc like the OG. Its cut fairly low however so just as well it plays quietly. I will be honest, my MOV reissue of 13yrs ago is abit more lively, expansive and exciting in good ways but at the same time is hotter and needs a better needle to shine whereas this plays well with a humble Ortofon 2M red. This is a very safe and polite mastering! Perhaps the big disappointment and the reason for loss of a star is the packaging. This is labelled and hyped as a Deluxe Edition. Yet the gatefold jacket quality is as bare bones cheap and basic as it gets. There is no panther embossing (like the OG and MOV reissue) and theres no booklet or extra notes or anything. Its the worst packaged edition of this album going lol. I guess the 2nd disc makes up for it abit but once heard its just the rejects at the end of the day and not an essential companion.Overall a good reissue and at £25 well worth it!

A very nice reissue with all the right bonus tracks
Feline might not exactly be The Stranglers' most celebrated album... but I'd say it has certain charm. Overall it's got a warm and mellow vibe with acoustic guitars blended with a lot of analogue synth and crooning/spoken word vocals. Some of the tracks verge on 'synthpop' but Hugh Cornwell has an idiosyncratic curmudgeon about him that places the music beyond 80s genre cliches. This edition is newly remastered for 2023, and compared with previous CDs from the 90s and noughties, we get what sounds like a very tasteful flat transfer from the original master tapes - no dicking around with loudness, no pimping the top or bottom end. I like it.A second CD collects all the relevant bonus tracks from the three singles off the album - B-sides, 12" mixes and radio edits, and even a (slightly anachronistic) live segué version from '85. The majority of these have already been available for years on various compilations, but completists will be pleased that a couple of them have never been on CD before. There's also some decent sleevenotes by long-time associate of the band, Chris Twomey.I suppose if they really wanted to go the extra mile they coulda boxed it with a bluray containing a fancy Dolby Atmos mix and the appropriate promo videos in high definiton ('Midnight Summer Dream' had a lovely one shot on film...) but if the record label was going to curate the Stranglers catalogue in such superdeluxe fashion, in fairness Feline is probably not the album they'd pick first! This double CD will do nicely as is.

All time classic
Excellent album, overlooked and disregarded by many as it is on the surface a softer album by most of the stranglers standards. Those who had grown up on the “punk” sounding era would have most certainly dropped off at this point, if they hadn’t already by the time The Raven was released. The fact The Stranglers went from Rattus to Feline in just six years is an incredible achievementThis is not everyone’s favourite Stranglers album, but it’s certainly in my top 3. The reissue is an excellent reevaluation of an essential album, would recommend to anyone who is either curious about the stranglers, alternative music or good music in general. Feline still sounds modern, an excellent audio scape which married the sounds of Southern Europe in the form of acoustic guitars, with the harsh Northern European sounds of synthesisers, electronic drums and a still powerful bass sound from JJ Burnel.Feline is an essential album, whilst the packaging on the reissue has room for improvement, it does have an excellent gatefold sleeve, and any subtle remastering has not ruined the experience of an all time great album

Luxurious Feline vinyl reissue
The 2023 40th anniversary vinyl reissue is a perfectly pressed reissue of a fantastic Stranglers album. The double LP looks great (although not as pink as the official product pictures) and sounds perfect without distortion or pressing noises. Brilliant synth heavy Stranglers. No download code but really glad I bought this reissue. With the release of their seventh album on new label Epic Records 40 years ago, legendary punks The Stranglers wanted to shake things up a bit, exploring new sonic territories and pushing their own boundaries. With a much heavier use of synthesisers and electronic drums, ‘Feline’ delved into much more of a modern European sensibility than before.

A Stranglers Classic!
While I do enjoy all of the Stranglers catalogue featuring the original members, I have to admit that “Feline” is my favorite album of theirs.Yes, it’s more accessible but I like it for its overall aesthetic. It’s their “Adult” album. Same as Madonna’s “Ray of Light.” That one album where the artist reaches their prime and truly gives what’s in their spirit. It may sound hokey but it’s true. These are the deep albums. There’s no sexual innuendo for the most part, no macho bravado.I’m not saying they are wimps on this album. They are men with cultured tastes. It’s a classic album in many ways.I would say buy this even if you’re not a Stranglers fan. It’s the best.

Purrrrfect
Nice package of Feline lp and all the b sides and 12 inches from the era. Stranglers lps all have their distinct styles. This one a bit more melodic European in style. Another fine lp from the phenomenal misfits of rock.

A suivre ?! On l'espère...
