The lightweight version is just that, light and much more breathable than other rain gear. The top would work well for a low impact type of riding, but I don't know how the pants would hold up over time. On return home, I noted that the buttock seam showed the actual cotton stitches used to secure it. There was no full separation. However, it does not bode well for a product useful life of long duration. Hopefully of course the overlapping coat will preclude water seepage.
