Review: On our 3rd crop already - Really happy with this - grew one mega mushroom over the first few days then after we harvested that, several smaller ones got going. Within a week, the whole surface was covered & we got around 250g harvest of large Portobello sized mushrooms which looked, smelled & tasted great. £20 might seem a lot to pay for a few punnets worth of mushrooms but they taste so much better freshly cut & the experience of growing them is quick & fun. Was well received as a gift & worth it overall.

A: No, This chestnut mushroom growing kit has a shelf life of 2-3 months and it will not start growing until you remove the lid and activate the kit by spreading the topsoil onto the compost. Just remove from the postal box and keep cool until starting.

**Q: HOW / WHEN TO PICK YOUR CROP**
A: Whilst supporting surrounding chestnut mushrooms, hold the mushroom gently at the top and gently twist and pull to remove the whole mushroom, including the root. Cut cleanly at the stem and discard the root.

**Q: CAN I GROW THESE OUTSIDE?**
A: No, all our grow kits are designed to be grown indoors, avoiding cupboards, enclosed spaces and direct sunlight. Greenhouses are also not recommended. Grow indoors, between 14-21'c, avoiding enclosed spaces such as cupboards.

If your in hurry for mushrooms, get a carton at Tesco's. This process takes time, although once the spores appear ,they put a spurt on. The mushrooms you get are meaty and fresher than you're get in any supermarket. Wouldn't say raw mushrooms in general have a very strong flavour. as these don't. I got two good harvests of about 20 mushrooms of different sizes (big to medium), and just a couple the third time. Then the growing medium went in the compost. Would I bother again? probably not, hardly a cost productive way of procuring mushrooms. Was it worth it? Yes, I would recommend having a go at least once. Its also a fun conversation piece at parties, when you need something to fill an awkward silence. .
