Garage Door Cones and Cables Will FIT A Henderson Door APH10

These cables came at a good price. They are to be held here as spares for when a cable breaks. It's a recent task completed here and it's a great feeling of achievement to have replaced cables successfully when you didn't already have a clue how to do the job. The last set were colour coded as in the illustration but these are both black. Also the instruction sheet has poor quality illustrations on glossy paper. A first time fitter will be advised to watch the YouTube videos rather than rely on this sheet.

Needed to replace the garage door cables on my 40 year-old Henderson garage door. This kit included all the parts needed (although I did have to purchase a pin punch, which had to be purchased separately). Found a great instructional video on YouTube (recommend you view these before starting the job) and it took about an hour to complete. Considerably cheaper than the quote to have it repaired by a third party.

You get a lot for your money, quality replacement parts delivered way before the due date.( in my case ) Perfectly and securely packaged. All the bits to do the job properly. The only down size, there is not one, my dad had his door repaired for exactly the same reason, the guide wire had snapped. he was charged £45 ( forty-five pounds ) for the parts and £50 labour. I thought I would have problems fitting this as I had lost tension in the spring, But after removing both the broken cords and fitting new cones it was just a matter of clamping the bar, slackening the allen key lugs and winding the spring to the correct tension, re-securing with allen keys and finally removing the clamp from the bar.

The right hand side wire had snapped on my Henderson door so rather than pay out £60 for a call out I thought I would have a go myself, if you follow the guides which are available on line it is pretty straight forward.Please be aware that you will have to change both cones because you will find that the old wires have stretched, I changed the broken one on the right only to find the left hand wire was now loose by about 1/2 inch

Wire snapped at 15:00 on a Thursday. Phoned around and to have new wires fitted I was quoted 120 quid. As I didn't want to have my pants pulled down for 1 hours unskilled labour I ordered these parts at 17:30. Do what they say on the label, but only 4 stars due to lack of instructions. I guess they assume you know what your doing when you buy these. Youtube is the place to find out how to fit them. Excellent delivery performance though.

Ok so the overall process to fit replacements is quite harrowing and I had the benefit of a mate who knew what he was doing. Therefore the absence of any instruction of any type could be a real deal breaker. Oh by the way, one kit fits one door both sides. Yep stupid perhaps but I bought two sets just to be sure. After all that though, they work fine and a good price too.
