The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning (Nintendo DS)

It arrived really promtly and it is now my 7 year olds favourites game.

I've always been a massive fan of Spyro the Dragon. I've completed all three games for the PS1 and I thought it would be great for the DS. It wasn't. I got it for my birthday and I played it for maybe an hour before shutting it off for good. Firstly the graphics are terrible and one-dimensional. I didn't expect them to be great for the DS but I did expect better. They were very flat and unappealing to the eye. Secondly, it was just swathes upon swathes of enemies hitting me from every direction and this got very boring very quickly. The enemies are also noisy and make stupid noises and this really grated on my nerves. Playing this game was a total waste of my time and a waste of other people's money.

As a kid, Spyro was my favourite game on the playstation. After reading all the bad reviews I decided to give the 'new' Spyro a chance. The main problem I had with the game was the length. You're left thinking, 'was that it?' I personally take ages to finish games yet was able to finish this in under a day. The game is also quite repetitive, you fight endless enemies, then fight a boss, then you save a dragon...that's it. Each level is practically the same, with the only decent variation being the various breaths. Many new attacks are introduced throughout the game and, whilst being pretty cool once you get the hang of them, are quite unnecessary. You can easily complete the game using the same 2 or 3 attacks. On the positive side, the graphics are cool and the idea of introducing new ice, electric and earth attacks is an interesting twist. Sadly, it's not enough and if you're a Spyro fan, you're not missing much with this game. All in all, if you've never played a Spyro game before, I suggest one of the originals- so much more fun!

Game arrived in good time and worked great. The story line itself is alright. There isn't much play time. Ran through it in like 12 hours. Good for the price.

For a DS game, this is quite fun to play around with. I wasn't expecting a full on game, and this does nicely if you ever feel bored.

Sonst ist man von Spyro Spannung gewohnt, aber das Spiel zieht sich und macht kaum Spaß. Leider nicht so wie man es sonst kennt.
