Perfect camping fridge / freezer
Just returned from a weeks camping and I have to say I am very impressed with this fridge. The build quality is excellent and it is very quiet when running. It is big enough to hold more a couple of days worth of food and drink. It cools down very quickly from room temp. to 3 degrees in just 20 mins and if you need it to you can go down as low as -20 and easily freeze meat or other frozen goods. In addition although it is not made clear in the description, the X40 is also compatible with the Alpicool phone app which means you can easily control or check the fridge with your phone over bluetooth which is very handy. All in all it is perfect for camping and it delivers the performance of a domestic fridge or freezer in the field.

Alpicool - it’s brilliant at that price
I’ve left it a month or so to review to get a feel for it. This has replaced a useless Halfords coolbox. I’m amazed at how good it is for the money. At first I thought it was a problem because it is a pretty large rectangle box. But that has proved to be excellent. Straight edges and is capable of housing a proper shop. I have this in my camper on the side. It’s easily controlled with the settings, gets cool super quick. It’s robust. It uses hardly any power. You can lift it in/out easily. It’s quiet. I ran this for a week, no ehu just parked up - 1 x 110ah battery, 130watt solar and Victron Dc to Dc. Game changer. If it broke I’d replace with the same . Well done Alpicool. Not sure what the measurements are on top though.

Excellent product
Great product- used extensively on numerous trips (both uk and Europe) for frozen dog food - quiet and efficient and quickly re freezes after car engine has been off / restarted - relatively lightweight with separate internal compartments

Good little fridge, quiet and efficient. Just needs a divider
It works quite well, thermostat can be off by 1 or 2 degrees but all in all its OK, keeps cool dosent drain my car battery to much but you need to set it up at lowest setting and eco mode. That will save your battery any higher setting and it will drain it. Reason I'm giving it 4 not 5 star is that the little divider is not present. I don't need baskets but that divider would be a good idea to have. I've read the reviews and most of them looks like people misunderstand settings. When you open the app the 3 setting are for power consumption higher setting uses more power. On lowest setting it work just fine obviously you need to give it some time to cool down. What I did is I've plugged it at home first and set to max to coll it down with all the food in it over night and next day took it to my van and plugged it in and set it at lowest eco mode and it was fine. Left it on all the time, even when I was at work for 10 h and ove night run the engine for 1h in between and had no problems. All that depends on how big is your battery, smaller batter less capacity.

Incredible performance
Can't fault this, can freeze or fridge quite happily and doesn't suck much electric considering - easy to use, very handy, no regrets!

EXCELLENT VALUE, EXCELLENT BUILD QUALITY, SUPERB FOR STUDENTS IN HALLS
PROS: 1) EXCELLENT TEMPERATURE STABILITY WITH LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION 2) QUICK TO REACH TEMPERATURE 3) VERY QUIET, ALMOST IMPERCEPTIBLE OPERATION 4) PERFECT CAPACITY (40L) FOR A WEEK'S WORTH OF MEAT/PERISHABLES 5) ROBUST, SHOCKPROOF AND WILL OPERATE AT A 40DEGREE INCLINE FOR SHORT PERIODS X40 MODEL 6) COMES WITH A LARGE BASKET 7) DRAIN HOLE 8) RELATIVELY LIGHTWEIGHT 9) BEST PRICE ON THE INTERNET, VIRTUALLY £100 LESS THAN ALPICOOL UK SITE 10) COMES WITH BOTH AN AC AND DC ADAPTORS, ALLOWING HOUSEHOLD OR CAR USE 11) APP ENABLED CONS: 1) APP CONNECTION IS ONLY BLUETOOTH, SO ONLY LOCAL USE I bought this because I lecture at University. Many students tell me that the biggest fights are about people stealing other people's food in the communal fridge. My youngest is heading to Newcastle and I hit on the idea of getting him a fridge. I then realised, that if I get a camping style one, if it survives his 3 years, my wife and I can use it on beach days etc. I originally looked at Euhommy, sold on Amazon. However, after some research, it turns out that Alpicool are the best value for money fridges for long term, extended use. Apparently, they have fewer breakdowns than other brands, and even more expensive ones. This particular model, whilst it doesn't have wheels, is very practical and ideal for students who don't necessarily appreciate the value of their possessions. Accordingly, this apparently is shock proof and will operate for short periods at an angle of 40 degrees. It's not the most attractive in a light grey and pastel green.....but in a few days, I won't have to look at it for a while! I was impressed with how quickly it cools down, and how quickly it returns to temperature after opening and adding room temperature food. This is either a fridge or a freezer. It CANNOT operate simultaneously as both. My suggestion to my son who is a confirmed carnivore, is to use it as a fridge. There's plenty of room for around 8 x 1kg supermarket meat packs. Inside is a small shelf, above the compressor which will hold about 4 x 440ml beer cans (though fortunately my son doesn't drink). I know this (about the cans) because we had a farewell party last weekend and I moved the excess alcohol from our very expensive Dometic 55L cooler to the Alpicool. In fact, had I known about these car fridges, I would never have bought the Dometic. The little shelf will hold about 3 large takeaway containers (we often use these for leftovers) and a pint of milk (he doesn't drink tea or coffee either....boring kid! LOL!) The Alpicool X40 has been operational in our house whilst I test it out for the last two days and it has performed excellently. Interestingly, on the Alpicool UK site, the X40 was £239.00. On Amazon, when I bought it, it was £132.00. For the first time ever, because this is for my son, I took the 3 year warranty for an additional £15ish (£14 and change). I rarely take these, but considering the whole thing came in a lot less than I had expected, and it covers accidental damage for 3 years, it's a bit of peace of mind. There is also no excess...I never thought I'd be extolling the virtues of an extended warranty/insurance! However, it makes sense if you are sending this off with your little darling! All in all, for the use case of a bit of food security (!) for a student, who is naive and non-confrontational, this is an excellent choice. If you are a camper or just do long trips to the South of France for example, this is perfect too. BUY IT, IT'S DOTTORE APPROVED!

The item since bought it on 25 november didn’t used it till this week in May 2026 ! After 2 days used in the house started with a noise by lower side where is the mechanism and temperature gone up from 2 degrees to 14 degrees! The noise was permanently till i pulled out from socket! F6 came on and even if u restart the F6 still on display! Would not recommend anyone to buy it,just after 2 days been used and its gone!
