Why is hay so important for herbivores?

Small herbivores have unique digestive systems that require ample amounts of high-fiber hay for digestive and dental health.

How much hay should rabbits and guinea pigs eat daily?

Hay should be available at all times and should make up at least 70% of the daily diet of small pets.

What is the difference between Oxbow's smaller and bulk hay sizes?

Packaging our bulk sizes (25 & 50 lb) requires a specific process that does not allow for the de-dusting or hand-sorting step involved with our smaller sizes of hay. As a result, we recommend carefully sorting the hay as you offer it to your pets.

How can I encourage my pet to eat more hay?

Like people, all pets are unique. Try offering multiple varieties mixed together to find your pet’s favorite.

How should I store my hay?

In order to preserve the color, freshness, and nutritional value, store in a cool, dry location out of direct sunlight.
