Review: A pop-up treasure with Disney magic just the wrong princesses - If you love Disney, this is for you. If you love pop-up books, this is for you. If you love both, you’re gonna have a happy fit! I have a few of Reinhart’s pop-up books now (Game of Thrones, both Star Wars books, Cinderella, Jungle Book) and this one lives up to his previous impressive work. It also compares very well to other pop-up artists like Sabuda, Carter, Pelham, Ug and Fischer. I love pretty much everything about this book, except for the choice of princesses (though that is arguably subjective), but more on that later. The design, colours and presentation of the book and the spreads is just beautiful. The cover is simply gorgeous – embossed golden swirls artfully frame three of Disney’s princesses and precious looking gems. Reminds me of the storybooks with which most of Disney’s fairy tale animations begin. The colours inside are excellent and the characters spot on. It was an absolute joy unfolding each new spread and discovering all the big and little pop-ups for the first time! The pop-up designs are impressive as ever. I especially loved Rapunzel’s tower – standing at about a page and a half tall, complete with a swinging Rapunzel and cheeky Pascal. I was also thrilled to find the boat scene in there, with Rapunzel and Flynn (or Eugene :) atmospherically surrounded by the lanterns. Just lovely... Very impressive also the transformation of Aurora’s wood scene to her prince’s fight with Maleficent. The small pop-ups and turn-over flaps are also great! Other main characters and pivotal scenes in each princess’ life were chosen and artfully realised (who knew a whole carriage could fit into 17x8x6cm? – though thinking about its veggie origin I probably shouldn’t have been surprised!). There are only two things I disliked. Firstly, the main Cinderella pop up, her transformation from the shredded dress to the magical ballroom gown, doesn’t work so well. Cinderella once transformed just won’t stand up straight (maybe that’s just because she is checking out her glass slippers…). The second gripe I have regards the selection of princesses for major spreads. Within the limit of five spreads overall, all “original three princesses” (Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora) are featured, while it’s only Ariel from the “Disney Renaissance” and Rapunzel from most recent years. Don’t get me wrong, I like the original three but was disappointed to find that neither Belle, nor Jasmine got a major page. I was expecting Belle to be there as she is the first princess to be named on the pop-up book itself and as a - quote “fan-favourite” - as well. A little misleading in my opinion. And can you imagine Belle’s library in the castle or the ball room scene? Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs Potts and Chip are also painfully absent. Sniff. Jasmine in the palace garden could also have been beautiful. There is Genie, but there could have been more of him in a major spread and, as we know, there isn’t ever enough Genie :) Also, I can’t help noticing it is only white princesses which make the large spreads (arguably from different countries of origin but nonetheless). So, the final verdict? A must-have for all fans of pop-up books and Disney and an appeal to Matthew Reinhart, could you do another one with the other Disney princesses that haven’t gotten major spreads here (Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Elsa & Anna, and Merida)? Review: Stunning book - Beautifully put together for the perfect gift

Beautiful and exciting book
This a really exciting book. The pop ups are complex and there are pull tabs to change the scenes. At first it seems that many of the princesses have been brushed over as only a few have full page dedicated to them, and the others only have a small section on a page corner. But but actually these flip over, and open up to give a miniature pop out scene. Highly recommended and not just for dedicated Disney fans

A Must have
Positives: Amazing book...Its an absolute must have for any collector of Pop-Up Books. Great illustrations and amazing innovative pop-up mechanisms.Brilliant composition color choices and finishing touches. Negatives: There are few flaws - The paper mechanism on the last page seem not to be working perfectly causing a tear on my book...The used paper on which the book is printed is not durable enough to take the impact of the very large and complex pop-up mechanisms. The small side pop-ups are ordered in the same predictable way used on every single page and they do not bring much of a surprise..

Arrivato in 2 giorni, consegna inappuntabile. FAVOLOSO
