Masterson Sta-Wet Handy Palette Acrylic Paper Refill 30 Sheets

Refill pack for the sta-wet palette. Is a little expensive but fits the palette perfectly. Few tips follow Can be used both sides so I draw in light pencil 2cm square grids on both sides prior to use to ensure I don’t use too much paint and keep the colours separate, yes it’s a bit anal I know but it’s super therapeutic drawing the squares as a first stage in a new painting project. Once side one is full I wash the used side of the sheet in the kitchen sink, use rubber gloves and running slightly warm water giving it a mild bit of elbow grease. When the majority of the old paint has been removed drip dry the sheet and then dry off in a few sheets of kitchen paper . I also give the sponge a good wash and re wet at the same time. You can then use side two of the paper in your palette. So the 30 sheets are actually 60 making it a bargain. Have fun :-)

If you use acrylic or gouache for plein air, you know the Masterson system. This palette paper is just as it should be. Perfect quality.

used on the same make plastic pallette, with sponge backing, keeps my acrylic paint fresh for ages.

These sheets along with the other parts that make up the palette, keep the acrylics that I am currently using at the time from drying up.

I feel slightly disingenuous here, since I ordered the 8.5 x 7 inch (small) size by mistake instead of the 14 x 10 inch (large) size for my Winsor & Newton palette, but I'm sure it's easy enough to double-up with the smaller sheets. Some "stay-wet" palette system is really essential when using acrylic paints and, although a d.i.y. system could be made using a plastic tray, wet paper towels for the water reservoir, greaseproof paper to hold the paint and Clingfilm as a seal, you'll undoubtedly thank yourself for buying one of the commercially available trays (large or small) to avoid as much fuss as possible as well as providing spaces for paint tubes, brushes etc. and your paint will stay usable on this paper for a surprisingly long time.

I had done my homework and yes I prob bought into the hype about how wet palettes are a game changer. As I have never used a wet palette from another supplier? I cannot say that my sta wet palette is superior to others. However; I am more than satisfied with the results which are so far Superb. The Masterson product has met my expectations. I have heard other painters say that the paper supplied is inferior and should be replaced with partridge paper. But it’s a small thing; so far the paper supplied works just fine with my acrylic paints. Overall I think this is an awesome product. Glad I made the investment

Perfect with my acryl gouache set. Paints stay wet and can be used for many days. I also bought the refill papers. Happy with my purchase.
