This is great for what it is, but be careful - it can bite you bad if you aren’t careful and/or haven’t practiced. Treat it with respect and it should treat you well. I find the quality surprisingly good. The weight and balance are great.

I have never used a shavette before getting this, only actual straight razors, so I can't speak to the build quality compared to other shavettes. As far as I am concerned, it has a good build quality, and feels nice and solid, making me think it will last a long time, maybe even longer than me.😉 I saw some reviews unfairly saying that it didn't work correctly, or the blade stuck out too far etc. in my opinion these people had no clue what it was they were buying, and didn't realize there's a learning curve to use a shavette, since it's harder to use than a regular straight razor. As long as you know how to use a straight, you will be fine with this. Anyone that didn't bother to find out what a shavette is and blindly ordered it....that's on them. It's not a disposable razor that looks neat. You need to know how to use it, or learn once you get it. I got a couple tiny nicks on my first try, and completely expected to. Only because I know shavettes can bite, especially someone like me that likes the heavier wedge type straight razors, that are much more forgiving. Overall, it is a great shavette in my opinion, and the only one I could find anywhere that does not require half blades, but properly holds full size safety razor blades, which is awesome.

It feels like one of my strait razors with the weight being right for a good glide without stuttering over the skin very solid and thick for big hands like mine thats why I like large heavy strait razors like a Spartacus type razor so it is a shavette that handles like a traditional strait razor . Only downside I see is if You keep Your nails trimmed short like mine I need a butter knife to open it to load a blade but once that blade is in there its solid not going anywhere just like a traditional strait razor blade solid .! If You do not trim Your nails short as mine I guess there is no downside . Love it !

So far this product has saved me over $500 on shaves. With a little practice, my wife and I have been able to achieve shaves that match most barbers!
