Dear John [DVD]

This is such an emotional film it's really quite hard to believe. I thought it really showed how life in the Armed Forces can affect an individuals personal life when they're both away on duty and also back home. I also felt that the way it portrayed John's father's illness was done brilliantly. It was factual but also very respectful. It showed the effects on both the sufferer and their families with a great deal of decorum and ingenuity. John and Savannah's relationship was so heartfelt, and felt so real. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't crying almost constantly. However, there were also moments in the film where I couldn't stop smiling. I watched the film before reading the book by Nicholas Sparks on which it it based, and I have to say they handled the transaction from print to film fantastically. Since buying this DVD I went on to read the rest of Nicholas Sparks' books, and bought the corresponding films. Fabulous film, great for a movie night in with your loved one.

Some people will be attracted to this film because of the central character. Hey don't get me wrong he's gorgeous and good in it. But it's also a really good tale. It's gentle and sort of tip toes into your consciousness. Very cleverly written characters Truly moving when you realise the relationship between father and son. And it doesn't have that really schmaltzy happy ending that so often come with US films. Loved it and would recommend it

When I saw this in the cinema, I was too caught up in Channing Tatum's body and the cuteness of this film to notice the poor acting abilities. Amanda?! She's amazing in other films, but at times I felt myself noticing her awkwardness which I guess isn't too bad considering she's known John for ..2 WEEKS. And Channing has about two facial expressions in the entire film. Personal opinions aside, it is really cute story and will make you slightly teary. If you're into that kind of thing. It's like P.S I love you and The Notebook combined.

As per usual, Nicholas Sparks does it again! Dear John is not the finest piece of cine art or the most intellectual film that has been released but it does not fail to jerk a tear here and there:) It has beautiful scenery, a stunning cast, and an intreging storyline... A joy to watch :) I must add though, please please please read the book! It cannot be topped! :)

My grand-daughter tape it, it is a brilliant film to watch. So I bought this for my grand-daughter as she really like it and now I can delete it from my television, mind you I don't think anyone else will get it to watch. Would recommend it to anyone to buy or even watch.

its not the worst but the best film

What can I say about this love story with two brilliant actors. They are so good together in this film they really do seem like a couple and the story is good. I love chick flicks and especially when it has such a good looking couple. Love it.

Mi dispiace pensavo si potesse cambiare la lingua invece è solo in inglese , quindi non l'ho potuto guardare...che tristezza.

Ich war nie wirklich ein Fan von "Schnulzen" aber dieser Film hat mir doch sehr gut gefallen...Er fällt zwar ins typische Schnulzenschema is dennoch empfehlenswert. Habe ihn mir in Englisch gekauft weil der Titel meinen Namen enthält :D
