Great Heroine story with great colonization structure
Its a personable and fast moving story with strong detail and structure, and a good story to boot.

Super Sci-Fi!
After so many no-name disappointments, this book is good: has refreshing story-line, character building and Sci-Fi-ness! I loved this Gem - and highly recommended!

It ain't shakespeare but I loved it!
An engaging sci fi romp that left mea eager for the sequel. None of the tropes in this novel were original but it was put together in an entertaining way that filled my need for a summer space opera read. Doubt I will ever read it again but it was still hands above the unpleasant expanse series.

Superb sci-fi debut!
I love well written sci-fi. Right from the first pages the reader is thrown into the heroine's struggle to escape her tormentors and live the life she dreams as a space pilot. I believe this is the author's first foray into sci-fi from fantasy and I hope he keeps them coming! This is a duology with book two due later this year... I hope. The universe and character development are superb. I find myself really vested in the outcome and thoroughly enjoying the story. Can't wait for more Tales from the Arcana Imperii Universe! I also disagree with the negative reviews. If you enjoy sci-fi that doesn't overwhelm you with useless (from the story standpoint) techo-jargon, has names of places and people that one can pronounce, opens with you in medias res and is highly entertaining - then this is for you. And if I were Marca - I'd be constantly worried about being found out too!! I can't wait for the story to continue in Deep Black. Fans of Reynolds, Bear, Cherryh, Weber et al. won't be disappointed. Thank you Miles Cameron - please keep the Tales coming!
