I have read part 1 physically, but it’s not the easiest of things to carry around, so bought the first 3 digitally. An absolute delight for fans of The Walking Dead and in an easily digestible format. I won’t review the content as that’s has been covered before in other reviews, but a strong recommend from myself. Though brace yourself for the size of this mammoth collection, you may want to buy a memory card to go with it… or several. Reading ahead of the TV series, as I always have done, I both enjoy the separate developments and characters while appreciating the potential for on-screen. Negan - such potential. If they play him on screen like he developed in this omnibus volume, we're in for a treat. It would be a spoiler to say much more, but he is nothing like the Governor. Well, no nothing like him... he's another sort of leader you'd probably stay well clear of given the choice who comes across as well-meaning, at least in his own propaganda. A solid story throughout with a lot of excellent character development. On a couple of occasions I had an emotive response to the story that meant I had no choice but to put it down on the table and walk away for a moment. The pay off at the end - THAT is a cliffhanger. You see what's coming, but... you don't see what's coming. Art-wise, I love the two-page spreads and I like the straightforward art. Nothing too flashy, but some excellent detail. When you see a horde, you see a horde. This volume covers the high 90s into the low 100s of the comic series - and I know there's so much more ahead. Kirkman continues to expand his apocalyptic world which is growing larger and darker with each issue. The characters you've come to love are just excel in these volumes; Rick, Andrea, Michonne, Maggie, Eugene and especially Carl have absolutely brilliant character arcs, and their stories continue to develop in amazing, yet mostly unforeseen ways. It has to be said though, this series is not for the faint hearted, and these volumes are definitely the most violent so far!
