Paper Fashions Spiral-bound – March 1, 2006

i love the paper fashion books i have all of them including the super rare paper fashion yesterday. the books come with hangers glue paper and embellishments like ribbons and beads. klutz does sell refill packs for the book but they aren't necessary to buy you can easily use regular scrap book paper as replacement for the paper that comes with the book and the wires can be crafter from regular jewelry wire quiet easily. the embellishments like beads can be replaced with seed or micro beads as well and glue is super easy to come by. ribbon might be a little hard to find as the ribbon provided is rather small. though i suppose you could just cut regular ribbon down to size. you really only need to stencils from the book it self and the book provides great ideas for you to try out. it also has a color wheel in it and color/ pattern recommendations to. great craft books for pre-teen ad teens. you could do it with younger kids but extremely close supervision will be required then.

I got this for my 11-year-old and it's perfect. She is having a great time with it and making all kinds of little outfits. They turn out looking really cute, so the immediate-satisfaction level is very high and the frustration level is very low for a craft project. I suggest getting the kit with extra paper, because the paper will be the thing that runs out quickly, although you could probably find some other patterns in the scrapbooking section of a craft store. It comes with cut-out stencils and she doesn't seem to be having any trouble with them at all. There are not a lot of little beads and decorations, but if the child enjoys this, it's very easy to get more of those kinds of things at a craft store. It seems perfect for a girl her age and I think it would make a really great and unusual gift for a girl of a similar age who likes crafts or fashion. The package with more paper and hangers isn't cheap, but you don't need the hangers and could get other paper elsewhere, and the stencils can continue to be used over and over, making the entertainment value for this pretty much endless as long as you're willing to restock supplies.

My 6 year old LOVED this book. it is a great value for the money. the book comes with ideas for uses of the fashion cutouts (making cards, gift bags, paper dolls, etc.) and the outfits themselves are made by tracing stencils onto the patterned paper and then cutting them out and adding "buttons" (beads) or "belts" (ribbon) and various notions and trims. the stencils are sturdy and can be used over and over again.even when you run out of the supplies included (paper, glue, sequins, ribbons, beads, etc.) they are easy and inexpensive enough to buy from a craft/scrapbooking store. so unlike some of the books like this, it's not useless when you run out of the supplied components.i've also given my daughter scrap material (like quilting squares you can buy for cheap) and she can make these with real fabrics, which adds an extra touch of fun for making cards and things. it's a fun project for her to take on playdates, everyone seems to enjoy it.

My 9-year old daughter loves this and the Fancy Fashions. She has always loved drawing different outfits and now she can "make" them. The number of different stencils and "fabrics" is great. The only down-side is that if you get both books (this and the Fancy) some of the stencils are the same. If you are looking for something to allow your child a creative outlet and engage their mind this is definitely the thing!

I purchased this for my 13 year old daughter as one of her birthday gifts. She absolutely loves it. She designs the outfits and then puts them in a scrapbook to save her designs. She is a very creative student. She is very artistic and smart. Even though she is very intelligent it doesn't bore her at all. It is nothing like a paper doll type of item.I think this item could be used by children/teens of all ages. However, keep in mind that they do need to have the ability to cut very well since the designs are cut out by the child, not punched out. My daughter can spend hours making new designs. When she has friends over they usually get the book out and create their own designs as well.The book does have stencils to follow and cut out, but it also recommends to be creative and explains how to use different parts of the stencils to make additional types of clothing.I highly recommend this product for children who are interested in this type of activity!

This is an excellent book that my 12 year old daughter, and ALL her friends have truly enjoyed. The book comes with stencils for outfits. It also comes with patterned paper to use for the outfits. It has a great selection of paper. The paper is similar to scrapbook paper but seems specially designed for the small outfits as the patterns on the paper go well with small outfits. Finally, it has some wire hangers - sized to fit the outfits. The girls have had hours of fun with this book. My daughter glues all the outfits into a notebook, and the friend who designed it "signs" the page. My only wish is that there was an address or phone number where you could order additional paper packs. While Klutz is generous when they give you the paper, my kids are using it a LOT! Her 8 year old sister enjoys it too. It is suitable for any age that is very good with scissors. The outfits are quite small. I plan to purchase some of these to use as birthday gifts to have on hand. This is one of the best activity books we've purchased.

There were all the pieces missing to this that we couldn’t follow directions and the book is pointless. So we just spent this money for nothing. That should have been revealed on the front end?!

Having created my own fashions as a child and wanting to keep my 9 year old amused away from the tv and computer I found this little gem. Having read everyones recommendation I was intriged if was as good as it sounds. Arrived by the usual efficient service by Amazon and thought it looked pretty basic; then you open the wrapper and see inside and found to my surprise it opened up your imagination ... not many toys do that these days! The book contains three sets of stencils, over 30 sheets of double sided printed papers, 15 little hangers and a small range of tiny beads and ribbons. Its well worth reading the book cover to cover first just to wet your appetite then let yourself loose on all those creative ideas. My daugther created a scrapbook with each page themed to store her designs in and review. Little hands will need some help cutting out as it is quite intricate but she says its the best present she's received and during those cold snowy evenings we have spent wonderful evenings together designing new outfits and having fun. We have already been at the art shop buying spare beads and now need some more paper ... hopefully Amazon would notice and stock this! Do I recommend this? ... well we have not seen much TV since we got it!

I was initially browsing the Amazon website for toys and games as I needed to buy a gift for my daughter's friend's birthday. I found this book and was quite surprised at the price. It's a great gift for somone who is 8 and above. So good in fact, that when it arrived in the post a few days later, my 8 year old daughter immediately wanted me to buy it for her with some of her leftover birthday money! Even I wanted to have a go!

This was a fun way to design fashions for all occasions, and there was a good variety of materials from which to choose.I would recommend it for any girl interested in fashion and design.
