The product: Gorgeous flavour and texture, the perfect "hamburger pickle" that really "dots the i" for that authentic burger joint taste (though even better on a dark rye open-faced sandwich with liver pâté). The jar is absolutely crammed too, so in ordinary times they are excellent value for money, but see below.The jar: The Beauvais lid is a little unusual, don't be alarmed if it feels loose and possibly even rattles a little. It's a two part lid* similar to home canning systems meaning that the ring is really just there to keep the rimless lid in place until the jar is vacuum sealed at the factory. As long as there's a satisfying POP when you first open the jar the seal is intact and your lovely pickles are safe.The listing: digital quality control is lacking and the "report incorrect info" link has stopped working for me. At time of reviewing it both states "Number of pieces 1" AND "Item package quantity 3." Scroll on down to the "technical details" where we're informed that the weight is 1.65 Kilograms, i.e. 550g x 3. I'm sure these discrepancies are due to multiple sellers piggy-backing onto the listing in a haphazard way. It's annoying to never be sure if you're paying a fair price or being had. All I can say is that last year jars were going for £3 each....*There's a baffle inside the ring to prevent complete separation although lid and ring are independent units. If I'm making a big deal of the lid it's because UK reviews for Beauvais jars are often negative by people who've never encountered this style before and assume the jar is bad just because the ring is loose. Listen for the pop! It's a sin to throw away a perfectly good jar.
