ARTIST 2 PIECE MAHL STICK ARM REST OIL ACRYLIC PAINTS

I'd never used a mahl stick before and have found this to be very good. I like the fact it unscrews to make it easier to pack up.

This thing is so cool! I had no idea what it was called so I searched Amazon with "painting stick" while cringing... and it worked!You use this "mahl" (a.k.a. "painting stick") to steady your hand while you paint further away from the edge of your paper or canvas ~ so that you don't have to hover your hand over your work and try to paint without going all sloppy because your hand shakes or your brush bristles don't land where you thought you were aiming. You rest the leather covered end against the frame of the canvas (never on the canvas or it makes the canvas stretch and leaves a dent!) or just to the side of the paper, then you hold the other end with your free hand. (I suppose you could also rest it against the dry portion of your painting if you are using paper...) You grab your paint brush, then rest the heel or side of your painting hand on the bar and there you have it! A much sturdier less annoying situation where your hand neither shakes nor cramps.It is a good sturdy mahl, well made and decidedly not a gimmick. I bought this 2-piece mahl because I like the option for extending the length in case I end up with a larger paper or canvas.

I liked the sturdiness of this product. Also, it was very reasonably priced.

With mahl stick I would say is much need for the artist so that your not leaning on yours therefore causing a mess this prevent this and also noticed it helps me when I am having to keep a correct distance when working on my work so it became a much need tool that I cannot work with out and would highly recommend for any working artist and those who do not have one yet what you waiting for it will benefit more to you than you think.

I bought this to help with my decorating (I am not a sign writer) to help with the joins between walls and ceilings and wall and windows. It appears to me made on an alloy as it is very strong i.e., it doesn't bend it is light weight so not tiring to use, and when screwed together is very long. It is quite difficult to use to begin with, but once I got used to it I found I couldn't do with out it.

This was a birthday present for a friend. He was delighted with it.

The pad is NOT suede covered as advertised. It arrived early but was forced through the letterbox, damaging the packing. I had to unpack it in the letter box to remove it. It is certainly over priced.
