Ito great provided you understand it limits. Generally I find orienting myself to the terrain fairly easy, but this provides and excellent backup in case my GPS and main compass fail. Also it's quite good for getting a quick approximate bearing on the go.

Needle damps down quickly. Strap way too long.

Light, clear and functional, this is a useful compass to have on your wrist. Although not much use in conjunction with a map, it does serve when following a bearing over a distance in the wilds.

Brilliant piece of kit use it for work within the military!

Replace the velcro strap, perhaps with one from an old G1098 watch & this is perfect. Easy to use, clear as a bell, luminous by night, what's not to like? I've added a little whiting to the aiming point on the bezel, just to make things easier in low-light. This is handy on the wrist or would be easy to attach to a bergen shoulder strap for quick reference too. All in all, I give this 10 out 10... just as we should expect from Suunto

Ok so you can see this is described as for northern hemisphere ye clearly isn’t. Ok maybe that’s a mistake. The compass sticks if tilted or not flat level. The exact same compass is available from some cheap ropey brand on amazon. The wrist strap is ok but hardly Suunto quality as expected. Do not waste your money, really dont

Well, it does do the job but it's a lot smaller than I was expecting (it's only 37mm diamater across the bezel) so it lost a point for that because this smallness seemed needless. It could still have looked perfectly ok and not to chunky but then be easier to read and look better if it was more like a modern large watch (nearer 45mm). I knocked off another star because the velcro strap feels terribly cheap, thin, and nasty. They could have provided a better quality bit of velcro. So 2 starts knocked off but it does of course still do it's fundamental job well. It rotates freely but only when totally flat, as you'd expect.

Es una brújula muy útil para navegación, por tenerla siempre disponible sin ocupar las manos. Suelo usar otra brújula de mano para estudiar el mapa y definir mi azimut, y esta Suunto para navegar. Su sistema es de fácil lectura y precisa para definir el rumbo. Solo debes practicar un ratillo antes de meterte en la jungla con ella. :P El único punto negativo es la correa... no me gusta para nada. Pero por lo menos es segura y estable, y no es tan mala a punto de quitarle una estrellita.

L'indication de l'azimut, même à seulement 5 degrés près, est rendue très pratique par la fenêtre et les encoches de visée. Allier une bonne boussole et la fonctionnalité d'un compas c'est très bien pensé. Mais attention néanmoins à un léger effet "de grippage": sur certains angles (deux angles sur le miens) il a tendance à rester un peu coincé et il faudra donc se tourner dans un sens puis l'autre tout en faisant varier l'inclinaison du bras pour obtenir un azimut sûr...

Spedizione e consegna rapidissime con Amazon Prime. L'articolo è di ottima fattura, la bussola è precisa e rapida nell'acquisizione delle coordinate. All'interno della confezione un manuale in 10 lingue (italiano compreso) descrive chiaramente le procedure di utilizzo. A differenza di altri acquirenti ho trovato il laccio perfetto per l'utilizzo, pratico e resistente, risulta effettivamente un po' lungo indossando la bussola direttamente sul polso, ma è perfetto per indossarla sopra il vestiario, anche sopra una spessa giaccavento. Difficile usare la bussola per eseguire misurazioni sulla mappa, va utilizzata in copia con un coordinatometro o una bussola da carteggio.
